THE HOST: I love travelling. Over 20 years, I have experienced guest stays in 30 city locations across 5 continents. Hospitality is close to my heart, so we have built our guest experience based on demanding expectations and have offered it in Valletta, Bormla and Birgu. GUEST ACCESS: Salt 54 is set in the idyllic pedestrian Battery Street with easy low steps which the Grand Masters of Malta used with their horses to reach their headquarters nearby at Auberge de Castille. It is easily accessible by car from Triq Sant Anton. Free non-metered street parking lies around the corner. During weekdays 8am and 3pm, parking in the vicinity can be a challenge . Free parking is much more available when guests return after a day out. Experience living in a typical traditional Maltese house in Valletta and appreciate the honey-coloured Maltese stone walls which at times can flake a little. Due to the way these buildings were constructed hundreds of years ago, ceilings can be a bit low for some tall people. That is due to the handcrafted Maltese ceiling slabs and wooden beams which create that cosy feeling to it. Floor to Ceiling slabs: 2 metres. Floor to Wooden beams: 1.88 metres. There is an additional charge imposed by local government (Eco tax). Adults only are to be charged at half a euro per person per night, capped at a maximum of five euro per person. Payment is be deposited in cash by guests at the property.

Salt 54 by Savynomad is a small quaint ground floor studio that forms part of a historic home in a romantic traditional stepped street that the Knights of Malta used to reach Castille. A 7 minute walk to City Gate. The historic and cultural centres, bars, restaurants and entertainments spots are just round the corner. This place comes with traditional wooden beams, patterned floor tiles & modern amenities thrown in: desk, USB charging, Ethernet wall sockets plus a modern ensuite bathroom. THE SPACE: Experience the brand new feeling of this recently refurbished studio apartment. This quaint 24 square metre accomodation comes with all you need to fulfil our credo at Savynomad: Work Smart – Play Hard – Rest Easy. In a relatively small studio space you will find the main room with airconditioning, double bed, sofa, a kitchen and a dining table that doubles as a working desk with blazing speed internet access, wired ethernet, USB charging points and universal socket that keep you productive: Ideal for Digital Nomads. The well equipped kitchen includes espresso machine, toaster, oven, microwave and double hob (stove). A separate private and modern bathoom contains sizable high-pressure shower, toilet and vanity sink. A separate private utility room contains washer-dryer, drawers and clothes hanger, full length mirror and ironing facilities.

Neighbourhood information

Lovely helpful Maltese people and the bustle of Valletta is only a stone's throw away. The street is one of the most unique pedestrian stepped streets in Valletta made from Maltese zonqor. Historically, Grand Masters and their aides used to climb from these exact steps with their horses from their ships to their headquarters in Castille Square. Just round the corner you will find lovely bars and restaurants. There is unmetered street parking spaces within a few metres from the accomodation. Lovely rocky beaches are also available within walking distance. You can easily walk to all of the many restaurants, bars, nightclubs, entertainment spots. All the Valletta cultural and historic centres are within 5 to 15 minute walking distance. The central bus station to reach any location in Malta is only a 5 minute walk away. Quiet but central. It is good for guests to know that this home is a restored historic 500 year old building that shows the traditional Maltese architecture and the beauty of the exposed Maltese stone. Also due to the porous nature of Maltese globigerina limestone , the honey-coloured stone walls tend to flake a little. Through the stay expect to see some tiny flakes here and there. It’s part of the experience of living in an authentic Maltese historic property in Valletta.
