Set in a unique 15th-century house, this family-run guest house lies in the small village of Tarxien. The ancient Tarxien Temples are a 5-minute walk away. WiFi is free throughout the property. Rooms at The Burrow Host feature antique furnishings and exposed stone walls. Each includes tiled or parquet floors. All rooms come with air conditioning, balcony or a patio. The property was renovated in February of 2018. The Burrow Host Guest House is 6 km from Valletta and a 7-minute taxi ride from Malta International Airport. Sandy beaches can be reached in 10 minutes by buses that stop just outside.

Company information

Chiara (owner) is a local 46-year-old. Before embarking into this business Chiara worked with foreign students, managed a printing press and also produced a local television program. She loves The Burrow, which was her home and the home to her five children. Chiara has a passion for interior design and has designed every little detail in The Burrow. She has a love for languages and Maltese history. Chiara loves producing home made jams and tomato puree. Chiara is not very present in the guesthouse as she handles all the back office and guest correspondence. Chiara speaks English, Maltese, Italian and French. “In February 2018 The Burrow was closed for an entire month of extensive refurbishment. The Burrow now boasts 9 rooms all with private bathroom. Neighbourhood information

Tarxien (Maltese: Ħal Tarxien) is a town in the South Eastern Region of Malta. Its population stood at 8583 in March 2014. The town is most notable for the Tarxien Temples, a megalithic temple complex which is among the oldest freestanding structures on Earth. It forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Etymology The etymology of the village may be a corruption of Tirix, meaning a large stone, similar to those used for the village's noted temples. The village motto is Tyrii Genure Coloni ("The Phoenicians created me"). Population Tarxien's population stood at 7,724 villagers in December 2008, which increased to 8,583 by March 2014. Tarxien Temples The oldest temple here is said to date back to about 3600 BCE. The temples feature various statues and reliefs of animals, including goats (for which Malta is noted) and pigs. Most notable of the statues found in the Temples are about 2.5 m in height, and are said to represent a sort of Mother Goddess. There are several of these statues scattered around the various temples, and are thought to represent fertility.
