The bedroom offers 2 box spring beds and a sitting area, TV and free WIFI. Then there is a small room with a sofa bed for a third person. Breakfast is also served in this room. In good weather, use can be made of the terrace in the garden. Free use of coffee and tea. Refrigerator available. For a fee you can use the washing machine and dryer. Guests have a private bathroom with access to the terrace and the garden. In the garden there is room to build a cozy campfire.
We are Martin and Hélène de Rooij, we have worked with people throughout our working life. Martin in mental health care and later until now professional musician (classical guitar and accordion) Hélène likes to dress and advise people and has long entered the fashion world. We were both immediately in love with this beautiful place. Often when we came walking from the forest with the dog, we said to each other "So, you would get here!" We have both passed the 65 but still very active and love to receive people who appreciate this place and enjoy it. We have created a small Bed and Breakfast with one guest house so a lot of privacy.
The Hijkerveld is an ideal bike and hiking area with a beautiful natural horizon, pools and a sheepfold. There is an information center, Scottish highlanders, burial mounds from the Bronze Age, bird-watch hut with large water feature. The Panheide is also a good starting point for trips to e.g. the Radiosterrenwacht and the former camp and remembrance center in Westerbork, a museum for example in Assen, but also local museums such as those in Veenhuizen and Orvelte are certainly worthwhile. In the weekends there is something special to do in almost every village in the area, e.g. in Diever in the open air the Shakespeare performances.
