---------------------------------On Tuesday 5 April 2022 we were assesed and accredited to carry the sustainable gold GReenkey label. Of course we are delighted that our efforts to do business sustanibality have been rewarded.-------------------------------------- We are Joop and Albertien. Joop wanted to start an B&B and when the present building was for sale in 2018 we bought it. After a a year of reconstruction and modernizing the facilities we opened in April 2020. Most of the reconstruction was done by ourselves and we love to spoil you in our Bed and Breakfast.

Property information

Bed and breakfast Marrum has started in April 2020 in a historic building in Noardeast Fryslan. It is close to many old authentic churches and to the world heritage "de Wadden". You can travel to Dokkum, Leeuwarden or the ferry to Ameland in 15 minutes. We have two spacious rooms with bathroom and a 6 person appartment with large badroom and walk in shower. For every guest we prepare a fresh breakfast. If the restaurants are closed we can prepare a simple meal for you. Please inform us via mail. It's also a good start for walking or cycling. Marrum was world famous in 2006 because of the rescue of a number of horses after a sudden sea-rise. A monument has been erected in memory of the event. It is a save place to stay in a beautifull area with many cycle and walking routes. The people are friendly and helpfull.

Neighbourhood information

Noardeast Fryslan is situated next to the worldheritage "de Wadden". It's also known for it's many old churches and dutch windmills. Many of them close enough to travel by bike. The old town Dokkum is also worth to visit with its old buildings. Most villages are build on a "terp"a small (handmade!) elevation in the landscape. This was done because of the floodings in ancient times. Marrum has 1400 inhabitants and it is very lively. The are two old churches, one of them is medieval. Its easy accessible because it's located on the road between Leeuwarden and Holwert. Some good restaurants are close (8km). The serve high quality food with ingredients from the area.
