Staying with us at the Milkhouse is a historical discovery of a glorious history dating back to the Golden Age of the Netherlands. The B&B is situated in the basement of a seventeenth-century canal house that was once the setting for leading trade and the flamboyant Dutch aristocracy. The house contains a rich history and was built in 1670 as a merchant's house. After having had many owners, the house has mainly served as the head office of the National Co-operative Dairy Distribution Center also called 'The Milkhouse'. The dairy sales center was later merged and moved and to this day is still proudly Dutch and known as Royal FrieslandCampina N.V.
With Milkhouse we want to inspire Dutch and international guests to enjoy Amsterdam as we do.
Milkhouse is located on one of the most beautiful and original canals in the center, the Keizersgracht. In the middle of the central canal belt, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2010, Milkhouse offers a great location in the shopping heart of Amsterdam. Located between the Leidsestraat and the "Nine Streets", full of original shops and restaurants: an ideal base for discovering the Netherlands' most vibrant city. The major attractions such as the Rijksmuseum, the Royal Concert Hall, the flower market and the Anne Frank House are all within a few minutes walking distance. Famous nightlife spots, cafes and the city's top restaurants are also very easy to reach.
