The hosts had the fire on ready for us when we arrived which made the place even more welcoming than it already was. Their two kitty's were also very welcoming. Gorgeous views of the sunrise greeted us every morning (and sometimes Boots did too)....

It might be a bach in name but it was so much more. A home away from home. The kids especially liked seeing the train go by. Great value

Great facilities and the location is beautifully remote.

Overall beautiful and well kept Bach although it's a lot more than just a Bach. An amazing and luxurious place to stay. Was amazing getting in and having the fire lit and warming the house. An amazing account of space. My wife and kids loved...

Welcome to our little slice of paradise - 22 hectares of mixed farm land set in the foothills of the Torlesse range & bordered by 2 remnant forest bush reserves. The property has extensive native planting along with grazing. Torokiki is the perfect place to wind down, enjoy the mountain views, read a book, go for a bush or farm walk, help feed our small flock of sheep or explore the wider area. The Waimakariri River, jet boating, horse riding, Mt Oxford, ski fields & walking & MTB tracks are all close by, while Christchurch airport is less than an hour away. At our warm cosy bach you'll find super-comfortable beds, crisp linen, a deep claw foot bath, a well equipped kitchen with tea & coffee provided, plenty of books & games, a wood burner, an outdoor wood fire pizza oven & an outdoor brazier. The deck has stunning views & plenty of outdoor furniture. There's a TV with DVD player with some old favourites to watch. There's no wifi available so bring your smartphone for internet access. The bach sleeps up to 8 people & is a separate, private wing attached to the main house. The bach has its own private garden area & a courtyard with a pizza oven. Relax & enjoy.
We are keen outdoors people & are passionate about creating a beautiful environment thriving with biodiversity. We have extensive native plantings in amongst our farm paddocks & along with our neighbours are looking to attract even more birdlife and bush. We would love to welcome you to our little piece of paradise.
Kowai Bush is a very small, very quiet, historic settlement sited alongside the Tranz Alpine Express railway line. It sits in the foothills of the Torlesse Range & is home to two of the last remnants of indigenous lowland forest in Canterbury. Across the community there is a focus on reforesting the area and establishing a natural corridor to connect the two remnants of lowland forest.
