We are a married couple with 3 grown up children. We now live on the south coast of England near Bournemouth but originally grew up in London. We are both now retired.We have been coming to Alvor for a number of years now, playing golf and enjoying the food and hospitality of the area. We were taken by the year round sunshine, beautiful beaches and many and varied quality dining experiences. We decided we would like to own an apartment here for our family and our own use and to rent out to similar families and golfers who might also enjoy the area. We decided on Vila Marachique as the pool area is quite magnificent and being freshwater, much nicer for young children. The pool bar was a great extra incentive. The apartment's location facing south away from the development with 3 balconies facing east, south and west made our minds up, as it makes for a very light and airy environment with sunshine most of the day.

An easy 20 minute walk to the coast and beautiful golden sandy beaches. Sir Henry Cotton designed "Pestana Alto" 18 hole championship golf course less than 10 mins walk from apartment. At least 5 other fantastic 18 hole championship golf couses within 20 min car ride including Penina, Gramacho and Vale do Pinta. Alvor itself is a a charming fishing village with a fantastic array of quality and affordably priced restaurants and bars in a stunning natural harbour setting. It is only a 1.25 Km short downhill walk to the centre and a reasonable 5 EURO journey home by taxi. Directly over the road from the apartments are 2 recommended restaurants to try. Local supermarkets nearby. Less than 7 Kms away are the twin resorts of Portimao and Praia da Rocha with its major resort facilities. Splash & Slide water park is about 15 kms away and there is a large shopping centre within 7 kms. Faro airport is an easy 67kms / 40 minute car ride. Train and Bus from Faro to Portimao is available for under 8 Euros and then a short taxi to Alvor for about 10 Euros or bus for 2 euros. There is a shuttle for about 18 Euro pp direct from airport.
