Our apartments and rooms gather together authentic details: antique furniture, very old traditional tools and decorative objects that can could be proudly displayed in a museum – all of which give you the essence of the traditions, heritage and culture of the area. The service amenities are all newly and discretely modernized to blend in perfectly. The old main barn and workshops have been reworked and transformed into a new open-plan area that skillfully blends the old and the new. Massive old oak-timbers from a two hundred year old barn have been rebuilt into a new structure - based on the remains and site of the original building – all under a newly built and traditionally tiled roof. This large vaulted space includes and houses Transylvania Culinary Academy, the massive kitchen, training and preparation area which includes a dining space A separate spacious mezzanine area comprises an entertainment and lounge area. There is also a separate open-spaced loggia than can accommodate up to a dozen people socializing at a very large oak round table with splendid views across the property and beyond. .
As our ancestors grow up in Transylvania we are committed to preserve and promote our Transylvanian heritage, its' cultural values and culinary traditions. Transylvania Culinary Academy is a non formal establishment dedicated to promote traditional food processes and culinary culture.
In the heart of Transylvania and close to unique Unesco World Heritage Sites, our newly renovated and comfortable Saxon property dating from the 18 century offers the ideal experience of witnessing the historical and cultural heritage of Transylvania, its authentic life style along with local culinary tradition. During your stay you can enjoy: visits of the Saxon villages as Viscri, Saschiz and Meserdorf, the famous fortified churches and medieval citadels of Transylvania; hiking and foraging in the surrounding wilderness; hands on cooking classes of traditional popular dishes made from fresh natural or organic products; visits to the local market or the sheepfold; buying products from local farmers and demonstrations of ancient food processing like the making of cheese or bread.
