Hej! We’re Ryan and Bex, originally from New Zealand and the UK, and now happily living in the Swedish countryside with our two daughters, aged 14 and 5, and our lake-loving dog Tuffs.
We recently found this little house in Tydinge, and it was love at first sight. Tucked between the forest and the lake, it has that rare kind of calm that instantly makes your shoulders drop. Even though we’re just beginning our journey here, it already feels like the kind of place where memories are waiting to be made.
We’re an outdoorsy bunch: summer strawberry pickers in Jordgubbar i Kvistalånga, autumn mushroom hunters, mountain bikers, and year-round walkers who believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes. This area, with its peaceful trails, sparkling water, and quiet magic, felt like the perfect match for our family’s way of life.
While we’re still getting to know the rhythms of this place, we already feel incredibly lucky to be here, and even luckier to be able to share it with others. Whether you’re here to explore, unwind, or just soak in the stillness, we hope you’ll feel the same joy and connection that drew us in.
Welcome to our little slice of Sweden.
From the moment you arrive in Tydinge, there’s a hush that settles in, a stillness that feels like nature is gently welcoming you. The lake glistens just beyond the trees, and your own little rowboat awaits, tied up and ready for quiet morning paddles or slow, thoughtful fishing (just don’t forget your license).
Winding trails lead off in every direction, inviting you to wander, on foot or by mountain bike—beneath tall pines and through mossy clearings. They’re perfect for long dog walks too, with plenty of space for your pup to explore and sniff every corner of the forest. In late summer and fall, the woods come alive with mushrooms and wild berries, free for the picking if you’re feeling adventurous (and lucky!).
Afternoons are best spent barefoot on the lakeshore, the water cool and clean for a swim, or simply watched from the dock with a good book and a warm drink. And when the sun begins to set behind the trees, the whole landscape glows with that golden Scandinavian light, soft and unhurried.
Though you’re only a short drive from Broby for any essentials, it might feel like the rest of the world is miles away, and that’s part of the magic here.
