Caissa - an old country lady in a new modern dress Caissa is named after the chess godess. The 4-star stone residence is one of the oldest houses in the peaceful village of Deskle, completely renovated in a modern style. Here you can feel the beat of nature and country life. Relaxing in the courtyard and watching the bright night sky full of stars while sipping a glass of homemade wine and tasting a homemade salami will touch your body and soul. This is where time stands still! The joyful moment swallows up the problems of everyday life and the urban hustle and bustle fades away.

HI I am Jana, your host. I took my first steps in the old Caissa house in the small village Deskle. My studies led me to Ljubljana, where, as a doctor of psychology, I was offered a position as a university professor. My other passion in life is chess. As a chess grandmaster and member of the Slovenian national team, I am constantly travelling the world. I have also written a book called How to improve your life by playing a game, which combines my life passions, chess and psychology. My partner Aljaž is an opera singer, so I have also developed an interest in this art. We have a sweet little boy named Taras. My parents still live in my hometown and we are happy to visit them as often as possible. None of us wanted our old house, where we have our roots, to be eaten up by history, so we made an effort to completely renovate the old lady. Caissa is now our window to the world, which we share with pride.

Caissa is located in the lower Soča Valley with a borderless pass to Italy. The place is an ideal starting point for day trips, e.g. to Venice, Postojna cave, Ljubljana, Slovenian and Italian coast, Brda region, upper Soča valley, etc. It offers several outdoor activities; in summer you can enjoy cycling, tennis, hiking, paragliding, fishing, rafting, canyoning and swimming in the Soča river or visit the nearby Italian sea; in winter you can visit the ski resorts Kanin or Cerkno.
