Dar Ben Gacem -Kahia- is part of the Dar Ben Gacem family, all social enterprises through promoting national arts and crafts, and designing Medina experiences to improve the socio-cultural dynamic of the historical urban quarters of Tunis. All profits are reinvested in youth cultural activities and heritage preservation.

Property information

The dining/meeting room has gypsum carved ceiling, with Tunisian geometric lace like carving and Kairouani Arabic font script framing the room; walls are decorated with rare glass paintings. Dar Ben Gacem -Kahia- has an important display of historical ceramic pieces; private collection of Mr. Hamida Ben-Gacem, in an attempt to honour creative Tunisian ceramists of the last 2 centuries. Room are named after well-known innovators in Tunisian ceramic history. All Dar furnishing and decoration are handmade by Tunisian artisans from all over the country.The 1st floor is beautifully framed with 19th century ironsmith work, which serves as balcony and a winter garden for guests to enjoy the well booked shelves. The roof top, has an Arabic style majlis, perfect for tea time or breakfast, and has a picturesque panoramic view which includes the beautiful domes of Sidi Mehrez. Dar Ben Gacem -Kahia- upon request, offers a set of Medina experiences, such as cooking classes, calligraphy workshops or touring the Medina with a local. Wifi is available all over the Dar, and Tunisian homemade meals could be prepared upon request, as well as airport transportation.
