Bear Lake Lodgings is owned and operated by Breana Mathews and Joey Smith, longtime Alaskans with diverse entrepreneurial interests, careers and experiences. Joey owns and operates Seward Air Tours. As a bush pilot, Joey has seen parts of Alaska that few other people have ever experienced. A 19-year Alaska resident, Joey believes that the state is unique among the places he's lived and visited because of it's raw beauty and untamed nature.

Nestled in a magnificent setting on the shores of a forested alpine lake, Bear Lake Lodgings offers you the opportunity to experience Seward, Alaska in comfort and style. The lodge sits right on the shore of Bear Lake giving guests opportunities to explore the lake from one of our complimentary kayaks or canoes. Guests can get close to the beauty of our lake surroundings in one of our 4 single kayaks or 2 canoes. Serving a full breakfast each morning or packing a "To Go" breakfast for early morning activities - guests are well fueled with a hearty breakfast for their adventures in the Great Land! The B&B offers five guest rooms, each with its own unique characteristics, including three suites with access to viewing decks and two upstairs rooms with tranquil views. We look forward to your enjoying our home and Bear Lake.

Neighbourhood information

Bear Lake is Seward's fresh water playground, and the lodge sits right on the shore. Your stay here is sure to be the highlight of your Alaskan adventure. With hiking trails out the back door, glassy waters perfect for a morning paddle and a large deck that enjoys the late Alaskan summer sun, our bed & breakfast is the ideal base for all your adventures. Take a canoe or kayak to watch the salmon swim upstream during the height of the sockeye run. Set off from the back door and hike the historic Iditarod trail, or climb 4,300-foot Tiehacker Mountain. Watch the neighboring eagles nest with the lodge's spotting scope as the babies grow through the summer and learn to fly. The lake and its surroundings afford countless ways to enjoy tranquility or to find adventure. Kenai Fjords National Park headquarters is located only several miles from the B&B. Day trips into the marine park are offered daily from the boat harbor. Ask us about the various tours and 10%-15% discount we can offer our guests. Seward is home to the Alaska SeaLife Center, both an educational and entertainment activity to enjoy by all ages. We have a 20% off admission coupon for our guests.
