Staying at this farm was a great experience. Carolina, originally from the Netherlands, lives in harmony with her land and animals—goats, chickens, bees, two cuddly cats, and the most goofy, lovable dog, Luna. Every detail of our stay felt...

The disconnection from the business of the world. The location was very close to the wedding I had to attend. The room was very clean and bed was super comfortable. We loved “luna” Carolina’s pup. The view of the ocean was amazing. The air...

The organic garden space took us back to the 1970’s where chickens and chicks roamed free and an organic home garden provided the vegetables. Beautiful plants with papaya trees. Very pleasant. Breakfast is a rare treat with fresh goat kefir with...

The front porch, bidet, and shower were very nice. There were plenty of cooking necessities in the fridge and kitchen. Really convenient for very interesting places to visit on the south coast of the Big Island.

I loved the symphony that nature played…music for my heart and soul. I loved how natural and private all the “outdoor rooms” felt. It was truly a place I could rest and recharge. Had an amazing dream inspired by the land. Beautiful sunrise in the...

We thought the place was charming, and a nice change of pace for one night. We did not use the outdoor shower but the other outdoor plumbing facilities were fine, the cabin was cute, and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen seemed well...

This cozy, artsy, guest cabin is private, unique, and very beautiful with one bedroom, and one private, enclosed toilet. On the side of the cabin is the fully private, open air bathtub with a high pressure shower head. I can provide Epson salt for a detoxing soak under the stars. In the kitchen is a large, new fridge, and a two burner stove both contained within a cute, curtained gazebo. The space is harmonious and bright with a lovely ocean view from the covered deck. All is surrounded by lots of flowers, lush greenery, and fruit trees. Furnishings include: A desk and chair, a curvy bar with hand painted bar stools to enjoy meals with an ocean view. The most comfortable queen bed you will ever sleep in is built high enough to provide an ocean view and to store your suitcases beneath. Solar string lights give soft and romantic lighting at night. Available for your use is a two person hammock on a stand to sunbathe and relax and an on the go hammock that you can take out and about with you. The cabin comes equipped with pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils, and blender. Organic cotton bed sheets and towels are provided. There is a good internet connection here.   Our county water is fed by an underground water table, making it the best in the state. If you wish, you may put the water through the provided ceramic water filter on the kitchen counter. No need to buy bottled water.
Upon arriving at the property, you will be greeted by my two lovable dogs, Luna and Koa. They will ensure you feel right at home! My beautiful cat, Hoku, might visit you as well. The chickens and chicks are free-range and are fun to feed and watch. I’m sure you will enjoy the many colorful birds and butterflies. My guests have access pretty much everywhere on the property. You could walk to the goat pasture if you like. I have found that feeding my goats little snacks like papaya peels in their smiley mouths is something my guests enjoy.
I moved to Hawaii in 1997 and have mainly focused on natural healing, organic gardening, and sustainability during those years. I have studied extensively with a Hawaiian medicine man and I have many tricks up my sleeve to resolve common chronic or acute health issues using plants, herbs and all kinds of natural remedies from nature. I am very passionate about helping people with their health. I am an artist and teacher in Art. Some years ago, I ran my own private Art school in the Netherlands. I have integrated my artwork along with crystals and other interesting objects throughout my property for beauty and enjoyment. I have learned to prepare and create all kinds of superfoods, such as sourdough bread, goat cheeses, mayonnaise, dark chocolate, banana bread, jelly, Noni, pesto, hummus, etc. No sugar is used in any of it; only honey from my own bee hives, or Maple syrup. Produce such as greens, herbs from my gardens, seasonal fruits, and farm fresh eggs are usually available for purchase. I will serve you a complimentary breakfast on your first morning. If you wish me to prepare any future meals for you there will be a small charge. If you wish to order breakfast, please let me know the night before. You could even ask me to cook you a complete meal. Complimentary coffee and healing teas are provided in your cabin along with creamer and a jar of my honey.
Located in the balmy, Southern part of Hawaii, The Big Island, is Mark Twain, a unique subdivision with narrow, gravel roads and few cars, where many pioneering women and men live in their own unique, free-style ways. A place where friendly people look out for each other. Your stroll through the neighborhood will feel like times gone by when nobody rushed, people greeted you, and traffic was rare. Lush tropical greenery and floral scents are plentiful within Mark Twain where the climate is perfect. It is usually sunny, with blue skies and a nice, little breeze during the day, and a bit of rain at night. You will be close to the pristine surf beach at Kawaa, where it is usually very quiet. There is a place in this area where you can fill up your bottle with spring-fed water flowing from the rocks. My place is close to the paved road and is easy to find, and its proximity to surrounding attractions is ideal. In less than 10 minutes, you will find yourself at the farmer’s market, bank, and post office. The Kilauea volcano, in Volcanoes National Park is only a 40 minute drive from my home. Whittington Park where you can swim is a 15 minute drive. Hookena Beach is a 45 minute drive and Punaluu Black Sand beach is about a 20 minutes drive. We have two farmers markets per week in Naalehu on Wednesdays and Fridays. In Oceanview we have a Saturday farmer’s market/swap meet and there are two Supermarkets. South Point is a 15 minute drive and from there you can walk to the famous, pristine Green Sands Beach. This walk will take about an hour and a half, and along the way you will see a myriad of drift wood, rock formations and coral until you reach the amazing green sand beach, glistening with pure olivine. You are able to swim here, safely. There are rain forrest hiking trails at Manuka Park for those so inclined.
