I loved the retro style of the room, and the personal stories the owners shared through the binder left. My son is a senior at Virginia Teach, and I appreciated being able to find lodging during a popular Hokies Focus weekend.

This newly built (2021) guest suite, detached from the host's home via a covered porch, has its own lockable entrance. Designed by the architect owner, Eden's Echoes offers fine hotel room amenities in a very quiet and peaceful country setting, with abundant wildlife and views of the Blue Ridge Mountains folding down into the New River Valley. The design and decor are meant to be subtly playful, while tying together a few different motifs into one coherent whole. Guests are welcome to wander about the 4-acre property of field, forest, and hollow. The property is located in the village of McCoy, about a 15-minute drive to the northwest edge of the Virginia Tech campus. The New River Junction campground and river tubing business is 1.6 miles distant, while the Whitethorne Public Boat Ramp is 4.2 miles away. The property can accommodate parking a boat trailer for fishermen guests. A small park with a little league-sized baseball field, walking track, picnic shelter, and playground lies behind the fire station. This is a very short drive from the property. A great restaurant, The Palisades, in Eggleston, is accessed via a scenic drive along the New River.
While recently widowed Marc works as a custom residential designer, one of his main pursuits has been practicing the sport of falconry. Following in his oldest son's footsteps, Marc started his own apprenticeship in 2016 and is now a fully licensed "General Class" falconer. Depending on the time of year, guests may be welcome to interact with a live bird of prey, while Marc is happy at any time to educate folks about the birds and the sport. With Marc running his design business from home, he would likely be immediately available to meet his guests' needs, answer any questions they may have, or just stop for a friendly chat. The Golden Rule is practiced here.
A former coal mining village, McCoy now consists primarily of single family homes in a rural setting, on a variety of parcel sizes, with some farms dotting the landscape. McCoy has two churches, a well-equipped volunteer fire station, and a very small post office.
