Company information

As a New York fashion model, Pat traveled and purchased unique items for the mansion at auctions and throughout the world. She bought the estate in 1986 unknowingly when she scratched her head at the estate sale..."SOLD"! The Smithsonian and antique dealers scooping up music boxes and all the contents left the mansion in poor condition with only some original fixtures in tact. The fireplaces and claw foot tubs, the old knob-in-tube wiring and lathe and plaster walls needed desperate attention. There were no light fixtures, only a few gas/electric and the slate roof and porches needed replaced. The brick was black from coal soot and needed re-pointed. Hill restored the estate from the inside out adding central A.C., security and sound systems, then concealed all to perfectly meet the rare tiger oak and Tiffany windows. Artists hand painted faux bois and marble with original rollers found in the coach house then wallpapered to similar original colors. The carriage house is one of only 250 left in America. It has tongue'n groove interior and was home to the coachman who's uniform hangs in the library and a later photo of the chauffeur driving their dog in a 1904 Pierce Arrow.

Property information

Receiver of the Westmoreland County Historical Society Preservation Award in 2016 for its meticulous attention to detail and authentic restoration. Only it's second owner, Pat has spent the past 28 years purchasing the just right decor internationally at auctions. The behind the scenes restoration kept the original architecture while the comforts of modernization brings this historic home to a life of beauty and function. Historic displays of antiquity and art of museum quality are throughout. It's a masterpiece waiting to be enjoyed, now for the first time in 104 years available to you! We invite you to enjoy a trip back in time and a wonderful respite of relaxation!

Neighbourhood information

Scottdale, once the wealthiest city in America was named after Thomas Scott who mentored Andrew Carnegie. This mansion, guest house and carriage house was home to three generations of the J. P. Two of the younges daughters orphaned in 1919, thus cases of 1912 Old Farm Rye Whiskey from the Overholt/Frick farm was stashed behind the walls and found when Hill renovated. High brow political figures and partners Andrew Carnegie and Henry Clay Frick were entertained here and had offices in this once bustling town. The old railroads are now taken over with bike and hiking trails on the Allegheny Passage. Ohio Pyle white water rapids.
