We are a mixed Kosovar-British family with children at school in Prishtina, longtime users of AirBnB & Booking in our travels around Europe, and now starting our own journey in hosting. Between us we speak Albanian, English, Serbo-Croatian-Bosnian, French and Russian. Our top 3 things to do in Kosovo: 1. Among places to see in central Prishtina, one recently opened (disclaimer: by us) and thus not in guidebooks, is ‘Reporting House’, an exhibition of reporting on the Kosovo conflict of the 1990s and artwork on conflict themes. It is on Google Maps and located in the former Germia department store, opposite the National Theatre on the main pedestrian precinct. Open 10am-6pm except Sundays and Mondays, free. 2. Go hiking in Rugovë or Brezovicë 3. Go to Prekaz war memorial to learn about the history of this country 4. Go to Prizren to see the most beautiful Kosovan. Our top 3 restaurants in Prishtina 1. Renaissance for its best traditional Kosovan food in an intimate atmosphere (reservations reccommended) 2. Thana Rostiqeri for an entirely locally sourced food free of any pesticides 3. Soma Slow Food for fusion traditional food with a modern twist.

We are across the street from the most distinctive building in Prishtina, the National Library and 7min walk from the main city square, Sheshi Nena Tereze. The nearest place to eat cheaply is Extreme Pizza just right of our building on Agim Ramadani Street. The best local food restaurant is Renaissance(booking ahead is advisable). For vegetarian go to Baba Ganoush Meze near Grand Hotel. For the best local coffee and croissants, pastry & local specialties such as spinach pie, flia and mantija go to Olive (next to the Meridian Express supermarket – which also offers cheap eats) along Anton Cetta Street. For brunch, bagels, crepes and the best salads go to the atmospheric Sonder, two parallel streets up Aktash. Nearby restaurants in that same direction include Alegro, A&A and Extra Fish for excellent food. For Sushi go to SushiCo & Wokwok. For fresh fruit and vegetables walk up the (San Francisco-like) Gazmend Zajmi street for 5 minutes and the Qershia green grocer is on the right hand side. The nearest nightlife and bars are located in the buzzing 2 Korriku street (Ballkan, Taverna Tirona, Baron, Ibra, Te Martini, Bubble Pub). For a luxury spa & indoor pool go to Swiss Diamond Hotel nearby. Almost all these places are on google maps and within a 10-min walk from the aprt. Further facilities include the "Power House" gym 3 min walk away, "Five Star" full gym inside the Grand Hotel across the university park, the city park with good playground, the nearby Californian-trained "Smile" dentist practice, London trained designer hairdresser Alban Avdullahu at Iliri Salon, Dermacare beautician, Roka Optician, authentic Thai Massage, plenty of barbers, laundry, tailor nearby. For a run go to Germija. For an outdoor pool go to Hotel Garden & Emerald Hotel. Aquapark "Ujevara" is 45 drive away. Prishtina is generally a safe place to be, but this neighborhood in particular is well lit and buzzing with people - the university campus nearby.
