Company information

AfriCamps at Pat Busch Mountain Reserve is owned by Stephan & Lindi Busch. In the early 80’s the reserve used to be a working farm growing peaches, apricots and vines. Stephan’s dad, who moved from Germany to South Africa 50 years ago, used to spend a lot of his free time on the farm hiking, fishing and swimming. He fell in love with the place and that’s why many years later in 1985, when he got the possibility to buy the land, he didn’t hesitate for a moment. From this moment onwards the farm is better known as the Pat Busch Mountain Reserve. At the time many people used to stay over in the hiking cabins on the property. Making a reservation was done by simply leaving a post letter behind in the mailbox. Renting out these cabins was their first encounter with tourism and marked the beginning of a whole new venture.

Property information

This AfriCamps location is situated in Pat Busch Mountain Reserve. 2000 Hectares of spectacular mountain fynbos with streams, mountain dams, birdlife and various animals such as bucks, fallow deer, Nguni cows and even a very shy leopard. We invite you to escape the hustle and bustle and come and explore this hidden valley together with your dearest friends and family. The possibilities on the property are endless and include several walking trails, good bird watching, fishing for bass and swimming and paddling in the farm dam. The sparkling nine-meter swimming pool, fringed by a rolling green lawn is also a welcomed addition at which to chill in the summer blaze.

Neighbourhood information

The reserve forms part of the Klaasvoogds West foothills in the Langeberg Mountain between the towns of Robertson & Montagu. With over 160 years of history, Robertson has grown into one of the most attractive Cape Winelands towns, with Victorian buildings, jacaranda-lined streets and vineyards banked with beautiful roses. The Robertson Valley forms part of the Route 62, the longest wine route in the world and famous for its many wine festivals. There are also a big variety of attractions, activities and culinary delights on offer. Robertson is only a 1,5 hour drive from Cape Town and known as the western gateway to the Route 62 with easy access to exciting villages such as Montagu, McGregor and Bonnievale. Montagu, a beautiful Klein Karoo town, is famous for its hot springs as well as the many farm stalls and markets that offer exceptional food, wines & coffee. McGregor is a unique and alternative village away from the crowds where you can literally step back in time. The McGregor village is home to a vibrant community of artists and there are top-class galleries for you to explore. Also Bonnievale, well known for its cheese factories, is definately worth a visit.
