Good location. We didn't have enough comfort because we wanted to light a fireplace because of the cold weather, but were ignored by the staff. The breakfast was not impressive, but overall the place is good and we are ready to come back again.

Company information

Sue and Phil, built the lodge in 1997 and have been operating it since then. They have two daughters: Julienne, who is a medical doctor in Hermanus and Chelsea, who has been working in the USA in the hospitality industry for over 4 years and we are very proud that she is now the General Manager of our lodge.Phil is a retired South African Air Force helicopter pilot. He flew helicopters for twenty years and in that time, earned several important medals as a pilot for outstanding airmanship and bravery, including the Air Force Cross for Bravery which was awarded to him for his role in the rescue of passengers off the stricken Oceanos vessel in 1991.He retired in 1997 as Lt Col, 2nd in command of the Test Flight and Development Centre, situated in close by Arniston. The Lodge, although it is a relatively new building, was constructed using old Oregon pine windows and doors, which were bought in the Kalahari from a demolished asbestos mining town.Combining a feeling of old and new has created an unusual atmosphere which blends well with the surroundings.
