Well equipped apartment with lots of attention to detail, e.g. coffee, tea, milk, sugar, juice and even biscuits supplied. The little chocolates in the bedrooms were a nice touch.

Absolutely wonderful host and home. The location is sublime and has direct access to the beach which is pretty much a private beach considering there’s no one else there. The decor and attention to detail was exceptional, they even have their own...

Come and enjoy a beach holiday in one of the most popular beach towns in South Africa. Barracuda Lodge is situated in Paradise Beach, 15km away from Jeffreys Bay's city center and Supertubes, arguably the finest right-hand point break on the planet. Enjoy the sea views from the garden and living areas, walk along the pristine beaches, or learn to surf in JBay. The apartment has high-speed fibre internet, Netflix and Showmax for those lazy or bad-weather days. It is the ideal location if you wish to get away from busy city life. This is a magical place where you can watch Bushbuck and Grysbok from your doorstep browsing nearby in the natural bush areas. The sea and beach are only a few seconds' stroll away, where golden beaches stretch in both directions. The apartment is on the ground floor, with its own private entrance. The main house is on the top floor, but complete privacy is ensured for our guests. The unit offers the comfort and coziness of home while being seconds away from the beach. Relax in the living room or tan in the garden on those hot summer days. Enjoy sundowners and a braai with the crashing waves in the background after coming home from a long surf at Supertubes, the world's best wave, just 20 minutes away. There is a dedicated uncovered parking bay directly in front of the apartment. The apartment is situated in a quiet neighbourhood, with most of the houses in the area being holiday homes, which are only occupied during peak season. The owners live on the property on the top floor and have one tiny 12-year-old Miniature Pincher called Rosie, and a black one-eyed cat called Shadow - both of whom live their best lives in the house with the owners.
When I look back at my life, I suppose it was inevitable that I would end up living at the sea. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of December holidays with the cousins at my Ouma’s house in Jeffreys Bay. I remember the long drop outside and how you would rather “knyp” than go to the outhouse at night. I remember a Christmas party at the caravan park, and also the year we were camping, and a gas bottle exploded in our caravan, which caused a big fire and no caravan to sleep in that night. Thankfully, we weren't there when it happened, and we spent the rest of the holiday crashing with family. I remember tables laden with food on Christmas day and all the uncles and aunts and cousins (and there were many of them), eating and laughing together. For the past 17 years, I have had the absolute privilege of living in a house with 180 degrees views of the sea. Our scullery has to be one of only a few washing-up rooms where you can see the sun set over the sea. Our children grew up riding their skateboards and bicycles up and down the quiet road we live in. As they got older, they used to walk across the dirt road and down the steps onto the beach, while we watched them from the deck. Since we started hosting, we have had the opportunity to share our apartment and beautiful beach with people from all over the world - Russia, Germany, Australia, South Korea, Switzerland and, of course, South Africa. We love that our guests become friends and the fact that many of our guests come back for repeat visits, is extremely rewarding. Some people destress by jogging or running, colouring in or drawing. Me? I go for walks on the beach. I walk, and I walk until the tightness in my chest has gone and then I turn around and walk back home. If, like me, you prefer a good book to watching TV, have a look at the basket in the lounge - some of the books we've read are there for your enjoyment. Paradise Beach really is Paradise - here, you will find yourself again.
Barracuda Road in Paradise Beach, is a quiet residential area with most of the houses in the area being holiday homes, which are only occupied during peak season. Guests can walk along the beach for 4 kms to the Kromme River in St Francis Bay. Fishermen love Barracuda Reef, and you will often see kite-surfers on the sea when the wind is in their favour. Paradise Supermarket and Bottle Store (Froggo's) can be found approximately 4 kms from the apartment, where you will be able to purchase ice, groceries, wood and charcoal. Froggo's Pub serves pub meals and drinks. Crossing the causeway, you will find the Aston Manor centre, where you will find the At the Lagoon restaurant, a convenience shop and bottle store. There are more restaurants in the Marina Martinique area, only 2 kms away. Die Walskipper is an iconic landmark, situated on the edge of the ocean, in Aston Bay. They've been serving delicious food since 1997, making them one of the oldest established restaurants in the area. Most of their food is prepared on open fires, to give an authentic home cooked South African flavour to their dishes. They offer a mouth-watering array of seafood and other traditional South African dishes. Tapas Lapa Seaside situated at Clapton Beach, Dolphin Drive, Aston Bay, is a family style restaurant, where children can play in the sand next to their parents' dining tables. Nina's Marina Martinique is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 08:00 to 21:00. Craft gin and beer are available on tap and sushi as well as vegan menus are available. Wacky Waterpark located in the Marina Martinique, Jeffreys Bay is a great family destination for some fun in the sun. They offer a full range of activities for young and old in one convenient location. Lifejackets are supplied - have a laugh on the Floating Wipeout Zone (unlimited tries); challenge yourself on the Floating Obstacle Course (unlimited Sessions) (Summer Only) or play volleyball, disc golf, paintball or target shooting.
