We had a great stay here! The location was perfect, and the rooms filled with sunlight pouring in through the large windows. The surroundings were incredibly quiet, making for a peaceful and restful stay. I would definitely recommend this place...

The views were lovely. The place was very eclectic, something to look at around every corner. The owner clearly has a knack for giving items a second chance so to say. Absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back.

What was not to like. Such a picturesque cottage overlooking the dam with the soothing sound of the river trembling in the background. Thank you Michelle for opening your home and life with us.

Loved the eccentricity of the house. It had personality. Michelle is wonderful and accommodating. Thank you for waking up at 5 am and showing us the Engen garage. You went above and beyond.

She is a special piece of land set aside by a father for his daughter. A new home built strong, solar powered, and surrounded by water. The house has 2 decks with expansive views onto the Little Tugela River, the neighbouring dam, and of the mighty Dragon Mountains to the West. Another deck at the river was built as a tribute to my grandmother – the crossing point for her walk to school. The house boasts a 5.38metre high door frame, and enjoys some eclectic interiors. It is a rustic and romantic setting which sleeps four comfortably. It is spacious with big windows, lots of light and a special atmosphere. There is a pool and table tennis table, and a selection of board games. Enjoy the outdoors from the decks, or go gallivanting through the paddocks to the dam and river. Behind the house is a wetland area with a small dam boasting beautiful water lilies. Also home to the famous lily hopper, The African Jacana. An Ethiopian Snipe and a Marabou Stork have also been sighted. It is a perfect getaway to relax, unwind and restore your energies. There is history here, nature abundant and a lovely sense of tranquility. Come see for yourself.
Welcome to Eureka! I am always so excited to meet my guests. I have traveled to over 20 countries, some of them very remote, and always marvel at the people that cross my path. I enjoy meeting everyone that comes here. I choose to check my guests in personally, show them around and learn about their journeys too. I love it when they send me photos and commentary about how they loved their stay! My hobbies are photography, gardening, hiking and reading. I am always open to new ones too!
Winterton is a very small village, but encompasses a very large area of farming land. The main crops grown here are soya and maize. It is lovely just to take a short drive out on any of the country roads leaving town to enjoy vistas of crops and the mountains. The local museum is just around the corner filled with history of the many battles fought in this area. We are also on the base of a world heritage site, the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. This is a fantastically beautiful area with hikes, waterfalls, Bushman paintings and natural fauna and flora. Along route you will find our very own bakery, brewery, cheese shop, chocolate factory, nursery and many more places to visit and eat at. Just around the corner from Eureka is our pork shop Kwaphakamisa where you can buy pork, butter and cheese at wholesale prices, all produced locally. I always meet my guests at the Pig & Plough which is our family farmstall with a wonderful wrap around porch where you can enjoy pizzas, pulled pork, English breakfasts and more! It's also a great pit stop for the kids to play on the trampoline, swings, jungle gym, with the giant pencils and also to enjoy the fun farmyard and all its animals.
