As a family run business we are hands-on in meeting and serving guests and are open to assist if guests with information about the area or to make reservations for them at some local restaurants. Chatting with guests who come from all over the word and sharing different stories about (especially) travelling, cooking, art and architecture is a joy.

Welcome to Green Gables Country Inn! Our family-run inn is situated in the small, historic village of McGregor - in the heart of the Breede Valley wine region. I mere two hours drive from Cape Town it makes for a lovely week end break or tranquil holiday stay. Expect country-style hospitality and accommodation in comfortable rooms- some with charming thatch roofs. Four of the buildings on the property are historical monuments that date back to 1862. The Old Mill is one of the oldest building in the village. Have a sundowner on the Manor House veranda (a favourite spot for locals) and enjoy spectacular views of the village and Langeberg mountains. Stroll to the village for a relaxed coffee or a visit to local art galleries.

Neighbourhood information

The village is ideal for walking, bird-watching and mountain biking. Green Gables Country Inn is ideally situated on the outskirt of the village, but a short walk to the Main Road. It borders a nature reserve and a close by dam is ideal for swimming, while overlooking the village. Guests can relax in one of the coffee shops in the village or explore the numerous wineries in the area. A certain must is the charming non profit Donkey Sanctuary, where abused donkeys are cared for. Art galleries and a well appreciated potter is close by. Most houses around the Inn are beautiful cottages of a similar style.
