Witsand is a hidden gem on the South African coast at the start of the Garden Route. It is traditionally a small fishing village - however, more recently has become a hot spot for kitesurfer's who enjoy the flat waters in the lagoon and south westerly winds between Nov and April. During the winter months - June to Oct - Southern Right whales come to the bay to have their calves - visitors can sit in the comfort of the Ancourage Bar/restaurant to watch them or walk on the clean safe beaches . Witsand is where the Breede River meets the Indian Ocean - so guests can enjoy river and ocean activities and beaches. There are approximately 500 residents living in Witsand - 5 restaurants, three grocery shops, Fuel station, a fishing tackle shop, a craft market and a hairdresser/ beauty treatments salon.
