This recently renovated Victorian house is very spacious and uncluttered. The house has high pressed ceilings and comfortable carpeting throughout.
The house sleeps up to 6 people, 2 in the main bedroom with a queen XL bed and a bathroom en suite with a shower, basin and toilet, all disability friendly. The second bedroom has a double bed and shares the 2nd bathroom (bath, basin and toilet) with the third bedroom. This bedroom has 2 single beds and beautiful stained glass doors which open out onto the spacious covered veranda/patio.
There is a large kitchen/dining area which is well equipped for self catering. A complimentary breakfast includes a selection of cereals with tea and coffee.
The large covered veranda is perfect for outdoor meals or your morning coffee. It looks out onto the big garden and a view of the old windmill. The house is next door to my Bluegum Cottage B&B , also listed on this site, which makes it ideal to book for up to 12 guests next to each other.
I cook the best spaghetti bolognese for supper on request.
I am an artist and retired jeweler. I have lived in Smithfield for over 20 years, though originally from Johannesburg. I've also lived in Berlin, Germany and Barcelona, Spain, although that was many years ago. I love meeting new people and try my best to help my guests feel as comfortable as possible. I love cooking and gardening and am a wishful "foodie ".
The house was my mother's until she passed and because she was frail and in a wheelchair, the main bedroom is ideal for elderly people.
I look forward to hosting you and your family in the near future.
Smithfield is a very small town, literally in the middle of South Africa so it should be the perfect halfway place to sleep over. It's also a quiet, peaceful and safe place where everything is within walking distance. There are a number of general shops and restaurants. At the old original hotel there is an old bar with a cozy fire in winter, they also serve meals.
There is also a large Vintage shop. The more modern restaurant and bar is the last restaurant, called Buckleys.
We have a large dam where you can enjoy your water sports, and an 18 hole golf course.
Smithfield is a very pretty town nestled next to our Big Karoo Koppie (small, flat mountain). Established in 1846, it's a historical town with beautiful old houses in it's wide dirt roads, perfect for cycling and walking.
