About this property

Located close to Karoo National Park, our guest house is in the town centre of Beaufort West. The Lodge is comfortable and homey and offers wary travellers a place to rest. Housed in a beautifully restored building dating from the early 1900’s, Old House Lodge has 8 comfortable rooms. We offer breakfast, lunch or dinner on request. Our menu offers simple and informal dishes. You can plan a hiking trip or visit the Beaufort West Museum that houses two exhibitions namely the Chris Barnard and Medical Science Exhibition and the Beaufort Pictorial which depicts the development of Beaufort West through the years. After your return, you can relax in the dining room with a warm drink and atmosphere.

Located in the heart of Beaufort-West, Old House Lodge is a well preserved Karoo homestead dating from the early 1900’s. It has a serene old world charm and luxury, surrounding its guests with the warmth of the Karoo hospitality in all of its facilities. Old House Lodge offers well equipped rooms, all designed with your comfort in mind to make your stay a memorable experience.

Neighbourhood information

Just south of Beaufort West is the Karoo National Park which stretches into the Nuweveld Mountain range. It has an array of wildlife including some of South Africa’s most endangered species. Two endangered species, the riverine rabbit and the black rhinoceros have been successfully resettled. The Park is home to five tortoise species, the most in any conservation area in the world. A fossil trail, day walks and hikes ensure an abundance of sights and activities. The Park also has challenging 4x4 routes into the mountains, walking and fossil trials. Beaufort-West is also home to the famous South African heart surgeon, Dr Chris Barnard. He performed the first heart transplantation in the world. He is honoured in Beaufort-West in the Dr Chris Barnard Museum. The Karoo area is also a very popular destination for nature lovers, cyclists, golf enthusiasts and hunters.
