Vasantha is a retired media executive who, during her 35-year career as a journalist, worked as a CEO, communications head and covered South Africa’s transition to democracy including Nelson Mandela's presidency. She has owned and run Ridgeview Lodge since 2022. She does coaching, team-building, writers' retreats and food experience at Ridgeview Lodge. The Ridgeview team philosophy on hosting is be warm. be kind, be helpful.

The lovely Ridgeview Lodge set high up in Glenwood, Durban, features stunning views of the Durban city and harbour from its pretty, manicured front lawn. This intimate, family-owned Lodge features warm service and five star comfort. Lush gardens and aged trees encircle Ridgeview, making it an urban retreat in the middle of the city. The historic building, with its dramatic vaulted roof gives the appearance of a grand getaway in the country. Do not be fooled by its old world charm, Ridgeview Lodge boasts all the modern amenities and comforts that promise a five star stay including a swimming pool, terraces, air conditioning, book-lined drawing rooms and silver service breakfasts.

Ridgeview Lodge is in the lovely suburb of Glenwood with its nine parks, great coffee shops, medical facilities and tree-lined streets. The people of Glenwood are typically families that have lived here for decades, academics, artists, students and young professionals. Our Lodge is close to two of KwaZulu-Natal's top private hospitals and a four minute drive away from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. It is less than a 10 minute drive from Durban's celebrated beaches, the lovely beachfront promenade and a mere three minutes away from a number of great Glenwood restaurants. The King Shaka International Airport is a 30 minute drive, the famed Florida Road with its mix of restaurants featuring cuisines from all the world is 8 minutes away, the Suncoast Casino with its theatre, restaurants and gambling halls is 14 minutes away. Ridgeview is also less than 20 minutes away from the cosmopolitan charms of Umhlanga with its high end boutiques and restaurants.
