Shondoro Mountain Retreat / Shoulder Mountain Products is beautiful bushveld and mountains with spectacular views! For 6 years we have been working on an Agro-Forestry development project by planting trees, adding wildlife, and regenerating the soil naturally by slowly pushing water back into the soil with various leaky weirs, and water gates we have created! The seasonal fountains can run from December to July when the rains come nicely. You can enjoy the wild game as you hike through the mountain, mountain bike or just relax at the outdoor natural pool. Each cottage has it's own private bathroom, kitchen and braai area. Cool off with a dip in the pool or relax in your air-conditioned room. You will feel secluded and close to nature at Shondoro. With over 200 identified species of birds, you may wake up to a sweet song outside your window. Enjoy your stay!
Enjoy handmade items in South Africa. Various Farm Soaps from our own raw cow milk, "The Green Stuff" comfrey salve, Calendula balm, BUSH-MAN's beard oils, and more can be purchased on site and by sending us a contact through our website. We are a family living in the bush and enjoying nature each and every day and learning what we can utilize for good health and sharing it with others! We enjoy farm life of milking the cow(s), herding the sheep, watching the plains game, hiking, mountain biking and bird watching. We love meeting new people and hearing their stories.
We are located just near the Seven Sisters Mountains and you can catch the sunset or sunrise over these mountains from our grassland or by making a climb up the mountain. We are about a 25 minutes drive from Vaalwater, and 35-40 minutes drive to Modimolle (Nylstroom). Our 6km road is sandy and rocky. We advise guests to travel by SUV or bakkie, but many cars take the trek. We are hidden off the road in the mountains so no worries of hearing roaring traffic or busyness here! There is the VIVA OK Mini Mark about 4km from our turn off for groceries and biltong! Vaalwater is a small farming community with a few boutique shops at the Zederburg, along with a Spar market.
