Company information

Peter and Jami Kastner are the owner managers who live on the farm with their two young boys, Jack and Alex (winemakers-in-training). Peter owned a restaurant and Jami a flower export company before 2005, when they sold up and invested with a couple of friends into what was then a portion of Weltevrede Farm. Today the estate is known as Stanford Hills, with 6 wine labels exported to 11 countries, a 100 seater restaurant and accommodation for 57 people. The farm is also a popular venue for weddings and hosts a variety of fun events. Peter has no formal wine training, but has learnt on the job, with what he describes as a pretty steep learning curve! He believes that in the quality of the grapes, which are slow ripening due to the cool sea breezes in the area and carefully managed to give optimum yield. Jami manages the Tasting Room, the estate restaurant, where the kids often help out too. She is a published author of Sam and Me and the Hard Pear tree, and has recently opened The Butterfly Centre in Stanford. This centre is a non-profit organisation offering a variety of beneficial activities for children in the area with special needs.

Take a scenic, hour and a half long drive along the Cape Whale Coast from Cape Town, and you will discover Stanford Hills Estate, which is fast becoming one of the area’s most popular attractions. This magnificent family owned boutique wine estate has a little bit of everything to offer lovers of the great outdoors. The talented Stanford Hills team share a passion for the wholesome gifts that nature has to offer us and strive to share this philosophy with visitors to the Estate.

Neighbourhood information

The Klein River Mountains overlook the charming village of Stanford. It is famous for its’ award winning eateries and has an eclectic mix of art galleries, breweries and wine farms. Stanford is in close proximity to Hermanus, considered as one best whale watching destinations in the world and a treat for adventurous types, as there are mountain bike trails, horse riding, shark cage diving and boat cruises, all within the area.
