An extraordinary legacy left by the imperial royal family.

An extraordinary legacy left by the imperial royal family. Admission to the gardens is free, and a walk to the Gloriette [30 minutes] is well worth it for the wonderful view back towards the Palace. You need a ticket to access the roof area, though. There are all kinds of hidden nooks and crannies throughout the grounds, including the Irrgarten and maze. On your way home, stop in at the equatorial sundial, Japanese garden and palm house at the western end.
