Our stay was very beautiful. we enjoyed it a lot they let us do early check-in, the place was very quiet. the buffet was delicious. It is very close to the castle and also very close to Charles bridge, there’s a tram station very close to it, the advantage is that the tram that goes to the airport pass there

A four star hotel, but a full five star experience. Located near Prague Castle and in a gorgeous historic street, we could not have asked for a better 7-day (6-night) stay. The hotel is beautifully restored. The rooms are spacious, clean and oh-so comfortable - the beds are comfy and the heated bathroom floors were a welcome perk after a day of enjoying Prague's crisp autumn weather. And yes, they have all the amenities (and then some!) available to their guests. The breakfast was delicious! From a variety of different eggs, to pancakes, to fruit, to assorted meats, milks and teas of all sorts, delicious coffee and hot chocolate, and so much more - we were delighted. But the best part of the Golden Star experience is their staff - wonderfully nice people, who will gladly help you with everything you need. Professional, organised and extremely helpful, these are some of the nicest people you will ever know. One more side note: I travel a lot. A whole LOT. And I have stayed in all sorts of accomodation all over the world - from hostels to 5 star hotels. This is, by far, one of the best hotels I have stayed in - not one single peep from the other rooms, although it was full. I will stay here again and I will try to stay in other hotels from this chain from now on.

Prague Castle

There’s more to Prague than pilsner lager. Not your average beer garden, the illustrious grounds of Prague Castle welcome thousands of ale enthusiasts for this yearly celebration of Czech microbreweries. Entrance includes a programme, souvenir glass and all the beer you can drink. Na zdraví (cheers)!

Plan a whole day and take your time soaking in the history. There are good little cafes tucked into side areas of castle. Wait for cathedral to have opened and line to decrease before trying to enter. Enjoyed the beautiful gardens. Exit through the gardens and walk back downhill into city for great views and less crowded paths.

There is no easy access for people with issues with walking! The ticket and information office should be somewhere near the entrance rather than at the end of the castle! Hence, the design, heritage, view, and the cathedral are worth exploring. Be aware that you need 3 to 5 hours to see everything!

Impressive group of buildings on top of the hill with fab views over Prague. Recommend U Pivrnce Hradčany for lunch: Good beer and traditional Czech food. I had Bohemian dumplings with beef goulash and homemade potato pancakes - Excellent! It's set back a bit from the road in a courtyard at Hradčanské nám. 60/12, 110 00 Praha 1-Hradčany, Czechia, so is perhaps a little less crowded than other places. Loved it for our relaxed, unhurried lunch in the sun.

The climb up to the castle isn't too bad, if you're in reasonable condition. The hotel man made out it would be super steep, but wasn't bad at all, especially if you go earlier in the day before it gets too warm. The castle itself isn't as spectacular as you might expect, compared to some English castles, but the cathedral and basilica are worth a visit. The "Golden Mile" is a street with small houses: some have a few interesting museum-type artifacts and history, amd some are just shops, ranging from handmade jewelery to more touristy stuff. The audio tour may be worthwhile if you're particularly interested in learning the history (there are a few information boards with English translations, but there are a lot with no English or no information at all). Bear in mind they need CASH as a deposit for the audiotour machine. We had none so couldn't get one.

To make the most of the local culture go by foot, Prague Airport Transfers offer free walking tours to transfer customers, however be mindful that Prague Castle is a good hike uphill but well worth the visit especially for the views over the city. Local beers are a must try and much less expensive than imported brands. If using the Metro system, be sure to validate your ticket.

We did the hop on hop off tour. Found a better deal with a leaflet lying around the information centre... Took it to the main hop on and off tour guides by the Madame Tussaud's museum who matched the price and threw in a free Prague castle tour which was amazing! Highly recommended.
