The new museum opened just two months before my visit in September. They were still in the process of setting up the Tut exhibit, so I was unable to see that. Even so it was easy to spend the whole day there, and there are a few restaurants inside the museum, but some of those had limited menus because they are so new.

We went to this museum because GEM was not officially opened and the Tutankhamun masks were still displayed in The Egyptian Museum. I recommend you to get a guide at least for one hour to explain you the most important pieces and then you can stay longer if you want. We found Mr. Ahmed Marei by the ticket office- very knowledgeable and passionate about the egyption history. He speaks English very well and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommended! :)

Not possible to have headphones as individual tourist, only available for groups. So do your research b4 going in as private guides will swarm on you. The museum map is on the left back wall as you enter.

I was disappointed with the Egyptian museum, it looks in a pitiful state, dirty, torn linoleum. The staff, also ask for tips on the toilet inside the museum. I did not see any information boards about the exhibits.

So much stuff. So many copies of the same thing.

So much stuff. So many copies of the same thing. No labels. No cohesive narrative. Glad that the new GEM (Great Egyptian Museum) is opening now. Slowly, important displays will migrate to the GEM, I believe.

In Giza, some locals assume that all tourists have unlimited money and may charge different prices if you're a foreigner. Be cautious, as you might be asked to pay in dollars instead of the local currency. In my opinion, it's not worth going inside the pyramid—it's better to enjoy the view from the outside. A key lesson when visiting Egypt is to learn Arabic numbers, as this can help you avoid being overcharged.

Location- The place is located right in the centre of downtown Cairo. Everything is very accessible. The Egyptian Museum is a ten minute walk. A juice/shawarma shop available 24x7 for emergency hunger as well. Staff- Excellent staff. Available 24x7. Always reachable. Gave some good tour recommendations as well. Property- Very clean and well managed. Laundry available at a very reasonable price. Price- Very well priced. Would highly recommend (specially for solo travellers).

We’re three girls from the Netherland traveling alone in Egypt, and Cairo Soul Hotel made us feel super safe and welcome. It’s right in the middle of downtown Cairo, so we could easily walk to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum. The staff was amazing and a kind lady at the desk arranged a driver for our Pyramids trip. One night, they even walked us back from a Nile cruise to make sure we were okay. The rooms were comfy, with strong locks and it's safe for our stuff. The Terrace was a cool spot to chill with other travelers.

Located in the center of the city, in the famous area of Tahir Square. About a 5 minute walk from the Egyptian museum and surrounded by many great restaurants and famous landmarks of Cairo. The staff are incredibly helpful and kind and the offered breakfast was a tasty treat of local flavors. Ideal spot for catching an Uber or Careem.

You’ll find incredible value right in the heart of Cairo, with popular attractions like Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum just a stone’s throw away. The staff here are genuinely friendly and always ready to lend a helping hand. Plus, you can count on a clean room that feels just right for unwinding after a day of exploration.
