The Pavilion Winter is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well-positioned. Our room was tastefully decorated, clean and spacious with a good-sized bathroom complete with bathrobes, slippers and lovely toiletries. During our stay there were 3 dining options on site but you need to be smartly dressed for 2 of them, so we opted for the "casual" BBQ which is served near the swimming pool. There is a buffet offering a variety of vegetables and starters, which changes daily. The meat is brought to the table on a small charcoal grill and is excellent. Various wines are served. Local wines go for around 900 EGP a bottle and were good. The service was excellent and the waiters are very friendly and attentive. It was my birthday and they brought a cake and flowers to the table and I was seranaded by all the waiters. Really special! The breakfast is also a buffet and there is a really good range of products plus tea, coffee, fruit juice etc. Room service is available 24hr. The swimming pool is stunning (and heated) and you can order food and drinks from the bar there until around 5pm. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again. There are security guards outside the hotel complex and the only negative aspect is that the minute you go out of the hotel you are hassled by touts (not the hotel's fault obviously!). We walked a little way down the road and got a taxi for 150Egp to Karnak. The local going rate for a taxi is 100-150EGP for a single journey but you need to establish the price before you get in the taxi. The touts outside the hotel ask for 400.

The attractions are wonderful.. few tips, very pushy market stall holders!! your entry ticket fee includes 3 tombs but not the ‘big name’ tombs that’s an extra cost.. options once inside entry gate either walk the hill or pay again for golf buggy transfer.. there is provision for wheelchairs but not one for hire.. the security guards at each tomb are lovely and will assist you, most speak good English. WC facilities are questionable, the cafe at the tomb entrance is out of action so take water with you.

    Spectacular place to visit.

Spectacular place to visit. Not as awe inspiring as the Pyramids of Giza, but perhaps a bit more interesting. They charge a bit more to enter the King Tut tomb......pay it. You won't be disappointed.

no need to engage the hustling tour guides as all the tombs open to the public are together. well signed posted and all the information they impart is in the Lonely Planet Guide book. As they cannot enter the tombs they assume their credibility is to sell you expensive photo packs and arrange a generous gift for them after the conclusion of the tour

6am-10am is the best time to visit the tombs.

6am-10am is the best time to visit the tombs. Don't buy the Luxor premium Pass ( 220 euros for adult and 110 euros for student- it would be half price if you bought Cairo Pass already) as it isn't worth it, (it is supposed to cover the tomb of Nefertari but the tomb is closed atm). They haven't provided us any information about what are included in the Luxor Pass or the Premium Pass. Only one advantage is not to be queued at the entrance to the tombs.

Be aware of the entry fees.

Be aware of the entry fees. Set I alone was an extra 1800LE - nearly £28 per person - the cost per person for all the tombs, including Tutankhamun was £46 each!! Set I was very good, Tut's tomb just had his remains in it. The rest is in the Egyptian Museum.

A ticket only gets you into a few tombs and which ones are open rotates. King Tut is a separate ticket. Not the most exciting tomb (since he died young there wasn't much time to make a big tomb), but his mummy is there.

Gorgeous hotel with lovely, attentive staff and a fantastic breakfast. Spotlessly clean and well-maintained. It’s right on the Nile with three pools, including a pool bar, and an infinity pool which is perfect for sunset views. Just a 10–20 minute drive from major sights (Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple). The hotel also has convenient amenities (ATM and gift shop). Would definitely return!

The hotel is in a good location, right across from the Alley of the Sphinxes. The rooms are well furnished and clean. The staff is very friendly. Our flight was late and they offered us to vacate the room only in the evening. Everyone works for the customer. The breakfast was plentiful, and the view from the restaurant in the evening is unique. You can see the illuminated Valley of the Kings on the other side of the Nile. We would gladly visit this hotel again. I recommend it!

I had a wonderful stay at Bab Al Shams Palace and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Luxor. Located on the quiet West Bank, this hostel offers a peaceful and authentic experience away from the busy tourist areas. It's close to the West Bank's top attractions, such as the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple, and is just a short ferry ride across the Nile to the East Bank.

Great location, two minutes walk from Luxor Temple, 10 minutes from the train station. There is an ATM nearby. Very helpful and pleasant staff. There is a restaurant on the roof where you can sit in the evening and where breakfasts are served. And the view is simply wonderful - of the Nile and the Valley of the Kings, which is illuminated in the evening, and in the morning hot air balloons fly over it. The rooms have everything you need and overall the hotel and rooms look quite authentic

The building is beautiful. The bedrooms are beautiful. The roof terrace was lovely to sit out in at night. The pool is great, very clean, and well used due to the heat in Luxor. There was a giant fan in the living room and another portable fan for when it got really hot. It's a 5 minute drive to the Valley of the Kings and a short walk to the Nile. The host was very helpful, too. We will definitely come back and stay here. This apartment made the holiday for us !!

Everything was fantastic! Upon arrival after a long traveling day the hotel owner did not hesitate in opening the restaurant specially for us and made us feel at home instantly. He was also extremely helpful with organizing the best experiences for us with short notice and at a great price. Boat trip in the Nile with Ahmed and balloon flight overlooking the Valley of the Kings totally recommended! The owner and all of the staff were always smiling and super helpful. The location is really nice, around 5min walk from the public ferry. The place itself is a little paradise, we had a nice terrace for ourselves. The apartment is the best we ever had in Egypt, the bathroom is very clean. Mohamed gave us good advice and good prices for the Luxor tour by taxi (Valley of the Kings/Queens, temple). Fair price for the area

This small family run hotel is a real gem. Spotlessly clean , quite and relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff ready to help you with everything you need. From private drivers to bike rental. Ahmed and family will go above and beyond to cater for your every need. The location is very good too, close to the valley of the kings and all the sites in the west bank. The spacious and airy rooms are spread around a beautiful swimming pool and there's a little bar too. The best stay I've had in Egypt by far.
