Barceloneta Beach
This ancient theatre is the jewel in the Syracusan crown. It dates all the way back to the 5th century BC, and was used by the great playwright Aeschylus to stage some of his most beloved tragedies. Carved out of the rocky hillside, it used to hold up to 16,000 theatregoers on its semi-circular steps. Head down in spring to catch a classical play, and imagine the scenes all those years ago, as tragic actors prowled the stage and audiences wept and wailed at the heart-wrenching action.

Avoid, head the other side just after port Olympic. Consider renting a locker as the beach is fairly high...
Consider renting a locker as the beach is fairly high traffic. There are small convenience stores across the street if you need tanning lotion. You may also find it much cheaper to buy your own beer and drinks there. Vendors will stroll buy offering mojitos, massages, and towels. Haggle with them! If you don't like the offer, find another vendor. Most require cash. Be warned, many pretend not to carry change and will instead offer you a "deal" to make up the difference with more drinks. Don't settle for a towel for more than 15 euros, possibly less if you have the patience.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0
Great beach. Sometimes over crowded.
Great beach. Sometimes over crowded. Annoying massage ladies and men trying to sell anything. Never pay the price for what they are asking for. The big beach sheets they try to sell for 15€. Real price is 3€. Bargan down to 8€. Never buy their mojitos. Esp for 5€. They are worth 1€. No need to be afraid. Its not as bad as I'm writing but just these things can happen. The rooms are small but well-equipped and you have a lot of shared space at the beautiful vintage property with terrace. Every day your fridge is packed and you can use during the day. Also bread, fruit and cake available during the whole day. Bus V19 is very close and has a direct connection to Park Guell or Barceloneta beach/Port Vell.
