La Pedrera

This ancient ruin still teems with running water, flowing freely through the stone in a series of aqueducts, canals, waterways and waterfalls. Some suggest the site was once a spa for the rich elite, while others believe it was a temple – or even a fountain of youth. Now however, it’s a tranquil place to marvel at the Incas’ architectural skill, with only the gentle trickling of water to interrupt your thoughts.

It is an architectural masterpiece but it sits very high above! So beware that the only way up is the elevator or the staircase that is very long and has no windows inside. It feels slightly claustrophobic. Then there's a long and exciting excursion in the attic, under the actual roof, so you'll be walking for a while inside. Then you'll go to the terrace that is extremely high! So if you are afraid of heights, please beware. But it's magnificent. And remember that the only way out is again on foot down the staircase. So if you don't like closed spaces, it might very well be challenging for you. So bring a friend who will keep you entertained!

The rooftop was spectacular - at the sunset but the interior was a disappointment, there are only a few rooms to visit. The entrance ticket is much too expensive for what this objective offers .If you have problems with your legs or fear of heights, visiting the rooftop is not a very good idea, it is difficult to walk. At the entrance they take you with the elevator, but at the exit you have to go down the normal stairs.

The night experience is worth taking.

The night experience is worth taking. No crowds, just your 1 or 2 groups going through the whole place with a guide. Great evening views from the roof top and the roof top art. Online tickets. Right on Passeig de Grazi heading away from La Rambla along all the high end designer shops and boutiques, such as Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Boss, Amani, Chanel, Prada, Lowe, Rolex, Piaget, Panerai, Fendi, Longchamp, Franck Mueller, Richard Mille, etc. Also other Gaudi homes along the street to see.

If you love Gaudi and the stories of his life and work, then inlcude this as a day tour. The night show is good, but does not inlcude access to the actual apartments. Book in advance. Avoid the overpriced and under whelming onsite cafe. Browse the shop with your credit card and make sure to pop around the corner to the chocolate shop. Be aware that tourist attractions that are too busy already don't really care whether you come or enjoy it or not. The next tourist is already lined up.

    It's worth seeing anything Gaudi.

It's worth seeing anything Gaudi. La Pedrera has lots of wonderful details. Enjoy the standard self-guided tour, but skip the useless "extra" virtual tours. They are not worth any extra cost.

I think it works out cheaper to book online.

I think it works out cheaper to book online. They send you up in a lift to start on the roof (with an audio guide) - which has steps up and down in a figure of 8 - then then you descend by internal stairs to the attic exhibition floor (where there's a lot about Gaudi) and then down more stairs to an apartment on another floor. Lots of steps after that just to leave the building, but fortunately mostly down! The ground floor has lockers, toilets and an expensive gift store and a restaurant/bar.
