It was a very cute room, maybe a little bit small but very smart and comfortable. The hotel is located in an accessible location from the main attractions and at the same time there is a quiet place around. We heard starlings, they were singing for us during the night. We left the hotel early in the morning and the polite staff said goodbye to us.

Arc de Triomphe

Standing proud at the end of the Champs-Élysées, this instantly recognisable arch honours those who died fighting for France. Each evening at 18.30, a flame is rekindled to keep the memorial alive. Scale 40 steps to reach the top and be awarded with views across the City of Lights.

I would recommend visiting the Arc de Triomphe for its historical significance and impressive architecture. This iconic monument honors those who fought and died for France during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. You can climb to the top for a stunning view of the Champs-Élysées and the Paris skyline. The area around the Arc is lively, with shops and cafés, making it a great place to relax and soak in the atmosphere. Don't forget to witness the nightly lighting of the eternal flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier located beneath the arch.

I had a beautiful day to go up the Arc de Triomphe and the view was well worth it. It wasn't free and had to be pre-booked, but I would say that it was well worth it. Be aware that you do need to walk up a significant number of stairs in a round staircase.

Visited on a gloriously sunny late spring day. Marvelous building, which is definitley worth a visit. Didn't go up to the roof, as the queue was very long. I believe that it possible to pre-book a trip, which reduces the impact of the queues Many nice places to eat and drink in the area, that offer views of the Arc de Triumphe

The Arc de Triomphe stands majestically at the heart of Paris, a symbol of France's rich history and enduring spirit. Commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte, this iconic monument honors those who fought and died for France, particularly during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. As you stand before the Arc, you're struck by its grandeur and architectural beauty. The intricate carvings and sculptures that adorn its façade tell the story of France's triumphs and struggles, while the eternal flame beneath the arch serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom. Ascending to the top of the Arc offers a breathtaking panorama of Paris, with the Champs-Élysées stretching out before you and the Eiffel Tower in the distance. It's a view that takes your breath away and offers a moment of reflection on the city's beauty and history. The Arc de Triomphe is not just a monument—it's a symbol of resilience, strength, and the enduring spirit of Paris. A visit to this iconic landmark is a must for anyone seeking to understand the soul of France and the spirit of its people.

We had not gone out to the Arc itself on previous visits, preferring to view from outside the traffic circle. This time we went to the center and found a lot of interesting memorials. We did not go to the top as one of our party doesn't care for heights.

If you have bought tickets online you don't need to queue either downstairs or on the ground level. You go to the attendant at the barrier and they let you through to a shorter queue at the stairs.
