Old Port of Marseille

All life is here in the Old Port of Marseille. A place to eat, drink, stroll and shop, this bustling harbour has been in use since ancient times and its sun-drenched jetties and promenades are still watched over by Notre-Dame de la Garde Church. Time your visit for twilight to see softly lit buildings casting a warm glow on the placid water below.

The old port of Marseille is fantastic.

The old port of Marseille is fantastic. Everyday you can see the fisherman selling their catches Walk around and eat at the variety of restaurants there and smell the salt air. You can even visit the Town Hall{ which was included in the Netflix mini series Marseille} built by Louis XIV

Do not miss the Old Port and make sure you walk all the way...

Do not miss the Old Port and make sure you walk all the way round it and towards the Cruise ships in one direction and the Plage des Catalans in the other. You can get the 82s bus from Gare St Charles to the Plage and walk back to the Old Port. Buses take contactless payment but you need one method of payment per passenger. Abbaye Saint Victor above the port is also worth walking to, though it is uphill. Definitely take the Petit Train up to Notre Dame de La Garde as it is super steep.
