I was upgraded to the Chapel Room so called as it used to serve as such to the previous owners of the property The Sisters of Mercy . What can I say … a one of a kind room . The Cookie Jar possesses that understated surety of class which is self contained but evident throughout the fabric of the building and the professionalism of the staff .

    The breakfast was first class, obviously cooked to order and it tasted like it. The location of the hotel was perfect, right opposite the entrance to Alnwick Castle.

    Spacious and newly decorated in peaceful marine tones. Separate entry so not walking through pub to get in and out of our room, more private. Close to great restaurants and pubs, had really good fish and chips at Carlos, see photos. Close to Alnwick castle where early Harry Potter movies were filmed, but go see it for the centuries of history. And watch the broom riding lessons.

    We travelled from Ireland and drove from Holyhead to stay here, but it was so worth it as this hotel is absolutely amazing. The room we stayed in was spotless and so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We couldn't fault anything about this hotel and will definitely be back again. A visit to Alnwick Castle is a must and the hotel does a discount for this tour.

    This is an absolutely fabulous apartment and exceeded our expectations. Very spacious and had everything we needed. The Harry Potter theme is brilliant and you spot new things all the time. Perfectly located for walking to Alnwick castle, with castle views too. Absolutely loved the Harry Potter theme tune as we walked in. So many magical touches, and we loved that we had access to Harry Potter dvds and games. We wished we had booked for longer!

    Location for Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle was perfect. Beds were comfy and the staff were very helpful/friendly even given there clearly understaffed situation. FREE PARKING directly behind the hotel. The main room was well decorated and clean. The bathroom could do with a update.

    Perfect place to stay to visit Banter Bookshop and Alnwick Castle. We also took short drive to Amble and Bamburgh. The room was clean and cleaned both mornings of our stay with fresh towels if needed. The hotel is a pub but it was not noisy. The food both at breakfast and evening meal was waiter serviced and was delicious. Cannot fault this venue. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Outside beer garden and ceiling fan in room and we used both as beautiful weather during our stay too.

    Good value hotel in a fabulous location, within easy reach of Alnwick castle and a short drive away from Bamburgh castle and the beautiful coastline. All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the room was comfortable.

    A beautifully restored and immaculately furnished boutique hotel in a perfect location close to Alnwick castle. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel relaxed and very much at home. The restaurant is also to be recommended.
