We were overwhelmed by the number of noisy visitors first thing in the morning. It was not a warm day but it was very stuffy and there was no air flow through a lot of the galleries. Pre-book a ticket or go on a late opening evening ( The queues can be very long). The Egyptian /Assyrian statues and monuments are spectacular ,asare the controversial Elgin marbles. For intrinsic British exhibits, Roman Britain is fascinating. The reading room is hosting an exhibition at the moment. A very interesting space set in The Great Court. Too crowded to really see the exhibits. We booked a slot which I thought was to stagger the influx of people but clearly not. The British museum is world class when it's not too busy. Bring your own food and drinks ,come as early in the day as possible. Try to go to toilets outside of the museum as you could be stuck in a very long queue. There are free lockers for bags etc but again come early as these fill up very quickly, the alternative is the cloakroom which is expensive to leave coats/bags etc.Guest review bySharonUnited Kingdom
