The junior suite we stayed in for a week, called Lady, was beautifully decorated. Old fashioned which I like, golden light fittings and golden edges. And having a bathroom with a toilet and a separate shower room was wonderful for us two. The space was small but all was so smartly arranged on 3 levels, it felt like a 4 room apartment. Loads of hangers with a huge space for clothes and loads of drawers. Very good. Impressed with the many electrical plugs, very good for all the electrical equipment needing charges. Their Blue Door Bistro next door was brilliant for food. We have stopped eating breakfast, but had lunches and dinners there most of the time.

British Museum

As Great Britain’s Empire expanded, so did its cache of material treasures – many of which are on display in this world-class museum. Among its eight million exhibits, you'll find the stunning Elgin Marbles from Greece, the Benin Bronzes and the legendary Rosetta Stone. The Reading Room stands at its heart and is spectacular in size and scope.

    Get a guided tour.

Get a guided tour. I normally like to explore places under my own steam. However I have missed so much in this incredible museum before my American Cousin persuaded me to join her on a tour! Also sometimes retired professors do free mini tours of their chosen subject. I enjoyed a fascinating tour of the Elgin/Parthanon marbles

Do not go to this museum thinking you will see everything. Even with close to four hours, we barely scratched the surface--but what you do see is incredible and that means there's always more for a future visit!

We were overwhelmed by the number of noisy visitors first thing in the morning. It was not a warm day but it was very stuffy and there was no air flow through a lot of the galleries. The information tags on some of the exhibits were poorly placed and very difficult to read unless you were right up close.

Pre-book a ticket or go on a late opening evening ( The queues can be very long). The Egyptian /Assyrian statues and monuments are spectacular ,asare the controversial Elgin marbles. For intrinsic British exhibits, Roman Britain is fascinating. The reading room is hosting an exhibition at the moment. A very interesting space set in The Great Court. Top tip _ don't try to see everything in one visit. Plan and Prioritize!! Top Tip:

Too crowded to really see the exhibits.

Too crowded to really see the exhibits. We booked a slot which I thought was to stagger the influx of people but clearly not. The British museum is world class when it's not too busy. Bring your own food and drinks ,come as early in the day as possible. Try to go to toilets outside of the museum as you could be stuck in a very long queue. There are free lockers for bags etc but again come early as these fill up very quickly, the alternative is the cloakroom which is expensive to leave coats/bags etc.

Location next to British Museum, and walking distance to Westend theatres. Two Sainsburys and Tesco nearby. Quiet neighbourhood in the night, so slept very well in the comfy bed. High quality linen and towels. Kitchen well-equipped for two residents. We had an issue with the shower, but that was fixed by the host in no time. No aircon, but the oscillating fan worked very well in hot days.

The room was exceptionally quiet despite its location. The room was extremely well decorated in keeping with the vintage of the building. The breakfast was well served and delicious. Being near the tube station and within walking distance of the British Museum made it an excellent place to stay.
