Book onto the guided tour if you can- a good deal for £5. So much history and the stone for building the cathedral actually came from Caen in France!! Can you imagine how difficult that must have been?? With ancient ships and carts!!!

    Absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful. If you are Catholic, there is a Catholic church nearby to cover your obligations. However, you can also attend the services here to enjoy their inspiring chorus, homily, and venue. It is very well organized. The homily truly captured the message of Jesus. The message of love and good tidings. Absolutely fantastic

Ir is no doubt a wonderful cathedral BUT access was only through a retail style info centre and a hard sell for the £15 entry fee (even for the outside) seemed excessive! There were scaffolding and large scale building works operating (for a few years we gathered!...) Try Norwich if you want a more friendly (Free) Cathedral and Close surroundings!

It is built on so many different levels, unlike most Cathedrals which have a long aisle/chancel and then the altar, this has a long view along the main body, then steep steps to another level, and more steps up to the distant altar. The windows are dark, and let in little light. What also struck us was the way that strange broken pieces of stone carving were part of the structure, and had not been replaced/repaired: which looked so strange in a Cathedralmof such importance.

I got some stunning photos of the outside as it was a lovely sunny day. It is a huge building, beautifully kept, with too many interesting things to take in all at once. Not only is there the inside of the building, but you can also walk round the outside and see some historical buildings in the precincts. Do allow plenty of time to see everything, it's well worth it.

Great property in a perfect location. Everything 5 adults needed for a comfortable 3 night stay. Literally across the road from the City Centre and only a few minutes walk to Canterbury Cathedral. Great eating options nearby - a Gastropub Restaurant, Thai and Chinese Restaurants, a Chinese takeaway and a pub within 200 metres of the house. A perfect base for not only exploring Canterbury, but the surrounding areas of Kent.

We loved staying in such close proximity to the beautiful Canterbury cathedral. It was great to be able to explore when the crowds leave. The hotel was spotless and our room clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view of the cathedral from our room. The breakfast room was bright and airy, the food was good. All staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful. Paid parking on site was a real bonus. Overall great stay. Leaving a birthday card in the room for my friend's birthday was a nice touch.

At check in was offered for £30 more ( already paid for single room - shared bathrm 3rd flloor on Mon 28 July) to have a Double ensuite - bath on 1st floor. Said YES. View from bedroom window a real WOW - Canterbury Cathedral. Modern small bathroom. Water nice & hot for much needed soak as my back was bad from sitting long period in coaches. Also staff were able to cater for my wheat/ cows milk intolerance so could have GF toast & oat milk on porridge.

It is very near Canterbury Cathedral. High Street is just around the corner. Pricing for a family room is good. Spanish Tapa Restaurant below (part of the hotel) was nice, great food (octopus and paella). Super friendly staff. Complimentary croissant breakfast with jam, marmalade and free tea and coffee.

The very central location is perfect not only for sightseeing but also for theatre, restaurants, train and bus stations. The view out of the windows, with the Canterbury cathedral spires on one side and the Marlowe Theatre on the other side is impressive. Both the street and the house were quiet and the charming little balcony overlooking small gardens full of trees and flowers rounded up the pleasant atmosphere.

The worldwide renowned Canterbury cathedral is worth the visit, although the ticket is not exactly cheap. It stands out as a magnificent example of gothic architecture, and it is definitely worth the visit to the city by its own. Despite being small, the town center is pleasant to walk along, and there are dozens of nice restaurants to enjoy at night.
