Every single aspect of the Balmoral is five star - from the location to the facilities and hospitality. The reception team and concierge were courteous and welcoming, and the fantastic housekeeping staff were meticulous and left no stone unturned in ensuring that the room was well appointed and well stocked at all times! The level of attention to the most trivial detail is what makes this a truly five star experience.

Holyrood Park

The vast, green expanse of Holyrood Park is best experienced from Arthur’s Seat, the park’s craggy peak and a long-dormant volcano. As you make your way up the winding paths, you’ll take in the delicate remains of the 15th-century St Anthony’s Chapel as well as the ruins of four 2,000-year-old hill forts.

Fabulous walking area, if you go up King Arthur's Seat the last section of the climb is very steep and rocky, please wear suitable footwear. St. Anthony's Chapel Ruins on Whinny Hill so worth a visit, great views.

We loved it here but we were really just walking through on our way to the Castle. Next time we go I would like to spend more time here. So lovely. Lots of benches to sit at. Beautiful views. Coffee shop for refreshments. Long queues though.

A must to visit if you have the time.

A must to visit if you have the time. A large area to chill out in and explore. When we lived in Edinburgh, we used to go there a lot with our young family. The energetic can go to the top of 'Arthur's Seat' for panoramic city views, or just go feed the ducks at the other end of the park.

When visiting the Park it is worth following the path around Holyrood, albeit it is 3.3 miles long, and one side is far steeper, but shorter than the other side, but the views of the City, from the top and side, and on clear days, Portobello harbour, the Firth of Forth, as well as the Rail and Road Bridges at Queensferry, is well worth the effort, and of course exercise!

A great breakfast with many different options (vegan and vegetarian options included). The staff were friendly, kind and helpful when we needed a hair dryer or anything extra. Rooms were spacious with a nice view of the Holyrood park.

It is a clean and modern apartment. The facilities were great. The old town is within walking distance and Holyrood park about 5 minutes away, but public transport options are also close by and easy to use. The host was kind and available if needed. Would recommend. Check-in was easy with clear instructions.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Our room overlooked gardens and was very comfortable. Whilst the hotel a fair distance from the city centre there are plenty of buses that regularly pass by. It is close to Holyrood park and Arthur's Seat. Kevin is a brilliant host.

Cosy flat with necessary stock in the kitchen. Peaceful and quiet neighbourhood at the edge of Holyrood park- hikers’ paradise. The loft bed was a cute little private space for a single person. The host Mario is a friendly guy. If you like a happening place to live in then this is not for you.

Relatively good value during the Fringe festival, right on the doorstep of Holyrood Park / Arthur's Seat, staff at 24/7 reception very friendly and helpful, big generous breakfast, comfortable enough room (a student dorm room) with a sink in the room and shared bathrooms.
