The decor looked modern but not minimalist. The selection of artwork was thought provoking and color schemes were restful,; mostly smokey neutrals. The first thing I did was to pull out my iPad, so I could send photos to friends and family, the 2nd thing I did was to pull out my receipt, because I believed I had spent much less than I should have for such a grand hotel. We had just come in from York, where I had spent enough money to keep referring to it as “our splurge hotel”. The Dakota was exactly £10 more than half (yes, half) the cost of the hotel in York. Even if there were nothing to do in Newcastle, but there is, it would be worth going, just to stay in this spotlessly clean and hospitable hotel.. the staff was world class. I hope Dakota becomes a big player in the hospitality business, because I would be a loyal customer.

    Location is perfect. Right next to the gate in the city centre, lots of food choices and shops. We attended to see a concert at Utilita and it took 10 mins on foot and the same back so no need for taxi's. Breakfast is lovely, lots of options and the staff are friendly and helpful. Option to check in online which saved a lot of time. Very clean and the best bit... the bed!!! So so comfortable.
