The woodlands is one of my favourite hotels. It caters for absolutely everyone. I loved the fire pits on the driveway in, it added a touch of class to the entrance. The petting farm is fabulous for the kids. The hotel itself is so warm and cosy with stunning decorations. Our room was amazing, so spacious and designed beautifully. The staff couldn’t do enough. Our meal was delicious. We absolutely loved the outdoor area, cabins with the stoves, Pizza , burger, coffee and icecream huts and finally the sports bar. Everything amazing.

My room at Absolute Hotel Limerick was fantastic! It was spacious, modern, and clean, with a large flat-screen TV and a Nespresso maker. The bathroom was a splendid, featuring a rain shower and plenty of space for us. I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort and style in the heart of Limerick. King John's Castle

Nestled by the banks of the River Shannon, this 13th-century castle recently received a 21st-century facelift. Now, visitors can use interactive displays, games and 3D models to uncover the history of the great fort: from the old Viking settlements on which it was built, to the numerous sieges that raged around its walls.

Such a cool castle to visit.

Such a cool castle to visit. So many rooms to see, artifacts and stories laid out, some are interactive..staircases within to explore. You get a good idea as to how they lived and worked. Courtyard is huge, and while we did not have children with us, there were activities for kids to keep them busy too. Nice little cafe and gift shop, and really nice views from the top of the castle. We spent two hrs there. Definitely worth the time.

They used to have lots of costumes and activities for kids...

They used to have lots of costumes and activities for kids but now none. Used to have reenactors demonstrating period arts and crafts, a blacksmith, cooper etc but now only a few unattended ruins and diy activities like horseshoe throwing and a rope pull. Although the historical presentation videos were ok, the underground archeological excavations area was unclear, too dim, with few signs and no staff to interpret the site. Climbing up towers gave amazing views, but otherwise, our family was VERY disappointed in the overall experience.
