Palazzo Vecchio

Sharing an imposing Neoclassical building with Spain’s National Library, the National Archaeological Museum of Spain houses an enviable collection of historical artefacts. Ancient coins sit alongside intricate Islamic artworks, while a replica of the Altamira Caves gives a taste of what life was like for prehistoric humans.

Online booking was a little confusing.

Online booking was a little confusing. We thought our ticket to the museum included the tower but not so. As a result we missed out on the tower which was disappointing. Also I felt the price of admission was a little steep. The museum itself is absolutely fantastic, incredible history and stunning works of art.

Bought tickets on Tigets , but when we arrived for our timed entrance, armed military were at the entrance and they had closed the museum. Such sadness! No warning, or notification, just a very sorry. And it being our very last day in Florence we sadly missed this important museum. Consider leaving some flexibility in your schedule when doing the intense but once in a life time art museums of extraordinary Florence.

A must visit that was easy in December.

A must visit that was easy in December. Would imagine it gets busy in the summer. Plenty of neck stretching exercise required because you will spend most of your time looking up. Photographic tip. Put your phone in selfie mode pointing up a the ceiling saves on the neck muscles.

Pluses were Central location. We picked it for closeness to the Palazzo Vecchio where we were going to a wedding. It was spotlessly clean Electric towel rail meant no soggy towels (which I hate) Big windows. Good supply of towels First floor (up steep flight) Range of eateries nearby Supermarket right on doorstep Near all major visitor attractions Shower worked well and water very hot (very) Good communication - I received a welcome phone call while in the train to Florence Two beside lights and pretty good WiFi Bed OK if a bit soft.

Alessio was very communicative and friendly and even took our bags to our room. The location is very close to the Palazzo Vecchio and the Arno river. The room is beautiful, and although expensive for us, was well worth it, and definitely a luxury. There were free biscuits, tea and coffee, and also a bathrobe and slippers which meant is felt even more comfortable. There were even complimentary umbrellas as we were there on a rainy day.

A beautiful and characteristic B&B that makes you feel like stepping into Florence’s past, with all the comforts of the present. La Casa del Garbo is warm, authentic, and so perfectly located. A 2 minute stroll to the Uffizi and Ponto Vecchio. A short walk to the duomo, close to all the great shops and restaurants. With divine views of the Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo della signoria. Perfect!

This apartment was a wonderful surprise. The location was crazy good! The view out the window was Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza Signoria. It was in a great position to get to the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti, not to mention the shops!
