The Vatican

The world’s smallest state is also one of its most attraction-packed spots. As the center of the Catholic Church, Vatican City is full of breathtaking religious architecture and artistic treasures. Must-sees include the imposing St. Peter’s Basilica—so vast that the Statue of Liberty could fit comfortably under its dome—and the mesmerizing frescoes at the Sistine Chapel.

A huge collection of just about everything - much more than Versailles or Ermitage ... But the main thing is the one that they won't let you take pictures of - in Sistine chapel Michelangelo drew God from behind - showing naked butt. Bold move - not just by Michelangelo, but also from the Church's point of view for allowing it. Opens up a whole new chapter of what Church is about ...

Make sure you get Tickets in advance, we walked by a really long line standing out in the hot sun for those with no tickets.... you can spend hours and hours there, as there are so many paintings to see and history to read about.

Impressing architecture, massive collons, even though it was crowded you dont feel it since the area is quite huge and there's no rush or any kind of panic by the visitors. People travelling there by themselves of with families, whenever tired always may have sit on the cool marble stairs and ground under the shadow of the buildings. Recommended to everyone visiting Rome.

Get a guide who doesn’t bore you to tears and also stop letting so many people in at one time. Too crowded, couldn’t see anything. Despite warnings to not use your camera in the Sistine chapel and to keep quiet, it was full of people talking loudly, taking photos and generally being pains in the ass!

Basilica closed due to the Conclave.

Basilica closed due to the Conclave. Museum was awesome, but tour guide moved us through the throngs of visitors so quickly we couldn't really focus on the amazing exhibits. Interesting to note, they keep the windows open without glass or screens. Very old school - we liked it.

We really enjoyed our stay. This comfortable & cozy apartment is in a FANTASTIC location, just steps away the Vatican entrance, the Ottaviano Metro stop, with lots of shops and restaurants all around. The space was sufficient for us for a short 4 day/ 3 night stay. The place was clean, well-equipped, the beds were comfortable, and the AC was great. We were able to cook our breakfast & have our coffee before we went out for the day. The host was very friendly & accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

It felt like our home away from home.It had everything we needed, from linens to kitchen stuff. We felt so comfortable. It’s iin a neighborhood where there is not a lot of tourist so you almost feel like a local.Safe and quiet .It had groceries nearby where we enjoyed buying prepared meals that were delicious and also saved us money. The bus routes that connects to the Metro were constant. It was a good walking distance to the local market, some restaurants, shopping and esp the Vatican.I’m just very happy I chance upon this apartment!

The apartment was in a perfect location within the Vatican City. Easy walk to St Peter’s Square and the Basilica. The breakfast was included in our reservation. Guilia was very friendly and responsive to our needs. The building is secure, which is comforting especially since Via Della Conciliazione is the main street to get to the basilica.

Incredible apartment in an excellent location. Close to the metro station, the Vatican, and many other landmarks. If you’re comfortable with public transit, it’s a great home base for Rome travelers looking to explore the city without needing to be directly in the city center.

We arrived in a little early and the rooms were not ready but the receptionist offered us to leave our bags (which were subsequently dropped to our room). This is a charming boutique hotel with very a high standard of finish. There was nothing to fault with the size or quality of the room. The rooftop bar is fantastic and provides amazing views across Rome while you enjoy your drink. I would highly recommend this hotel which is located about 20 mins from the Vatican and 20 minutes from the Trevi fountain.
