Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and exceeded my expectations. It's a short walk from the train station (though it does mean it's a bit of a walk to the castle) and the whole place has a really relaxed and charming vibe. Value for money was great, and there are many things to like. Staff is friendly and I really liked the design and setup of the rooms. Then there is the nicely set up onsen on the top floor with an indoor and outdoor bath, as well as a sauna and cold plunge bath. On top of that, there is free ice cream, free yakult in the morning, free ramen in the evening (after 9:30 pm) and free drinks from 3 pm to midnight. Design of the place is very Japanese (shoes in locker at entry) and with all the perks included, we really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of restaurants at walking distance as well. Would return if in Matsumoto again.

Loved everything. Fantastic location (10 min walk from station, but 1 min to the historic part of town). New property (only three years old). The rooms were comfortable and so warm (important in winter!). The onsen was wonderful. Staff were friendly and spoke English. Complimentary drinks (sake, beer, coffee, etc.) every evening and popsicles near the onsen. Laundry facilities were great. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else and hope to return one day. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Location: right next to the station, literally. Couldn't be easier. Takayama isn't that big, so you're already within walking distance of all the main attractions and many places to eat. Facilities: my room had a more or less full size kitchen, a huge refrigerator, a washing machine and multiple trash cans. This was easily the most complete hotel room of my entire stay in Japan. There is a pretty big balcony that you can access by way of sliding doors. And there is also a sliding mosquito screen to keep out bugs. Perfect! What I like about the building: While this hotel only has 1 elevator for like 10 floors, there is an open stairway inside the building that you can use. It is not limited to emergencies only. I have gratefully made use of this when I wanted to leave the hotel but there was an entire family with suitcases waiting for the elevator. Another big plus, the hotel has a secondary entrance/exit, so you don't have to pass reception when you want to get in or out of the hotel.

    Newly renovated and very clean room with great mountain and river views. The hotel is tucked away yet not too far from the main attraction, Kappa bridge which made our stay very peaceful and away from the crowd. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. Great spa and onsen. Restaurant serves fantastic dishes and the best in Kamikochi.

    Nakanoyu is in a great location. You can hike Mt. Yake right from the hotel. Plus, it’s just a short shuttle trip to Kamikochi. The views from the lounge and dining room are absolutely stunning. Dinner was quite an experience- so many unique small plates. It was fun to try so many different Japanese dishes. The room was cozy and traditional. The onsen was great especially having both indoor and outdoor options. Plus, the staff was friendly and helpful.

    The host is very responsive and helpful. Very cute and well-maintained traditional Japanese house right across the castle in a quiet neighbourhood with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. We only stayed for one night before heading to Kamikochi but it'll be really nice for a longer vacation here in Matsumoto. Highly recommend.

    No one can wear shoes in the hotel . There are shoe lockers at the entrance. In the room , there are slippers for just bathroom use, and emergency slippers in a bag just in case. Everything is new and clean. The breakfast buffet is tremendous deal and tasty. We used the onsen twice a day . So relaxing . This was a good jump off point for Kamikochi ( hiking) and Azumino (Daio wasabi farm).

    The nicest place we've stayed in during our trip to Japan, the host was very friendly and helped me plan the hike we did from Kamikochi (Yakedake trail, highly recommended). Matsumoto is a very nice town, I hope to return in the future!

    It’s close to the train station and lawson next to the hotel. Direct Bus to kamikochi is 3 min walk and there is a supermarket on the same buildings as the bus terminal.
