We've stayed at the Tokyo Station Hotel several times and love it. It's such a luxurious place in a traditional way....a beautiful room with high ceilings and a great view, and the most wonderful breakfasts! Most Tokyo 4/5 star hotels are too large and impersonal for me, generally high rises, but Tokyo Station is old fashioned and comforting and I like the smaller scale. Not to mention the central location...so easy to get to any part of Tokyo from there with direct access to the JR Yamanote line. The open space of the huge plaza in front is lovely, giving open and distant views. Despite the nearby trains and the people gathering for photos in the plaza, the rooms are silent inside with the double glazed windows.

Third time staying here - the last time was just before the pandemic. It's just as lovely as I remember it. Great location - situation right across the street from Tokyo Station. Lots of restaurants in all price ranges. Staff are friendly and helpful. I was informed that there may be construction noise during business hours but I did not hear anything.

Very polite staff trying to offer a great service. Cleaners were very nice and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody. Location is perfect for transport and bars, restaurants. Rooms are very spacious and the bed is so comfy! There are facial liquids for moisturising that actually cleared up a long term redness on my face :)

The Western Gardens outside of the Imperial Palace are open...

The Western Gardens outside of the Imperial Palace are open daily but the Eastern Gate garden are only open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday NOT open Monday or Fridays. Best to do the Eastern gate gardens as outside nothing really to see only the trees and the car park .

IMPORTANT! You CANNOT go inside the Imperial Palace.

IMPORTANT! You CANNOT go inside the Imperial Palace. From what I understand, there are only 2 days of the year you can actually go inside - you pretty much walk around the outside of it and take photos. Still beautiful and a good walk but we misunderstood and thought we could go inside with a tour guide. Please learn from out mistake :) still recommend going if thats your thing!

Free English tours twice a day.

Free English tours twice a day. You can book ahead to guarantee a spot. In our case, it was sold out in the morning, but in the afternoon, there were many spots left that people were able to get in person.

    a very important tip

a very important tip Check before you go that the palace gardens are in fact open to the public on the day you intend to go, because like so many other places worth visiting, they do not advertise the CLOSURES, as clearly as one would sometime hope

Great, very relaxing walking about the gardens.

Great, very relaxing walking about the gardens. If you want to guarantee a chance on the tour show up 2hrs before the start (9:30 or 13:30). They only allow 140 people in per day. If you want walk around and enjoy the gardens try get there before 9am, it gets quite crowded after 10.
