The location is amazing. Close to main shrine as well as small town. Room was clean, food was absolutely amazing and filling. Due to an error in Google Maps' vehicle information, we found out there were no cars available to return to the hotel. We faced a 3-hour walk from Asama Shrine to Shiraito Park, mostly uphill with barely any streetlights. Just when we were on the verge of breaking down and feeling helpless, the host kindly drove to pick us up and brought us back to the hotel. Without her help, we would’ve had to walk the entire way 😭😭😭. On top of that, the hotel’s environment is fantastic—stepping out the door, you’re greeted by a lovely garden, and just a few steps away is the stunning Shiraito Waterfall. It’s absolutely worth the long journey!

Staying at the Habanobo Temple is not just a simple stay, but a meaningful experience. The place is comfortable, the rooms are large and clean, and the traditional meals are delicious. But what we appreciated even more was the chance to experience the everyday life of monks. The monk at Habanobo explained a lot of things to us about Buddhism, suggested what to visit nearby, and involved us in different activities, for free.
