GermanyWe came mainly for the location to Nara Park and the train station and was not expecting more than a basic hotel with beds. We were pleasantly surprised with the inner-courtyard for the kids, the restaurant and the general design of the hotel with sustainable wood. We would recommend to anyone staying the night in Nara.

You might want to go to Himuro Shrine (氷室神社) for a quieter location to admire the cherry blossoms (during spring) and to feed the deer with less competition from other tourists! Is very busy and packed with tourists in peak season. The deer closer the entrance are very aggressive so will charge you and bite your clothes to get biscuits. Go further up the park to get some peace and quiet and meet calmer deer. Also, some tourists will feed wrappers and ice cream to the deer thinking it is funny. We woke up to sights of deer wandering right in the vicinity outside the hotel. The staff here were particularly lovely and we experienced safe to say the best service of our whole trip to Japan at this hotel. The dinner and breakfast were extremely tasty and though there wasn't any washing facilities on the premises the hotel staff were very helpful in recommending a coin laundry store very close to the hotel.
