If you can only go to Shirakawa-go once, make sure you go in...
If you can only go to Shirakawa-go once, make sure you go in winter when it snows there. Do not go in the heat of summer as you have to walk from one hut to the other under the blazing sun. There is probably no need to stay overnight either. Make sure you buy bus tickets before hand. The Internet booking is hopeless, you need to buy tickets in person.Guest review byEvaNew Zealand

The location is quite good (not very close to the bus station, but the staff helped a lot with transfer to the station in the morning). The staff are very polite and friendly (my deepest respect and greetings to Kenkichi-san, Ken-san's father and friend!). We had a lovely long talk in the evening! The hostel owner and staff is a friendly and mindful person. They will provide the pickup service between the station and the hostel, even the shirakawago also.
