Our private room at this hostel like guesthouse was spacious and comfortable. The common/lounge area was also nice and tidy, with the highlight being the 3 private onsens that are free to use for all guests. There is also a big kitchen which you can use, but we didn't as we ordered dinner which was bento boxes from the guesthouse. The bento box dinner was better than we expected, and you can take as much rice from the kitchen as you need.

Situated in Hongu, 14 km from Hosshinmon Oji Shrine and 21 km from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, Guest House Takiyoshi offers free WiFi and air conditioning.

We stayed 2 nights at Guesthouse Takiyoshi but wished we stayed longer. The hosts are a hardworking young family and will help you in any way possible to make sure you enjoy your stay. The room we stayed in was a traditional japanese room and very clean. Though there are shared facilities (including the traditional onsen), it was always kept clean and there were more than enough facilities for everyone (we stayed on a night it was full but never had to wait and it always felt clean). The meals are traditional, fresh and extremely tasty... the hosts know how to cook up a storm and you won't be hungry! We'd highly recommend Guesthouse Takiyoshi if you're looking to stay in Yunomine.

Very nice hotel with their own onsen onsite (public and private), which I enjoyed a lot. You can visit both throughout the day (even in the middle of the night). I would definitely recommend to get dinner and breakfast, there was an interesting variety of local and traditional dishes, which were very delicious. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. It's a great hotel I wish I would have spend more than a night in. It exceeded my expectations and I hope I will be back one day!

The stay at Minshuku Sumiya was just amazing! After walking the part of Kumano Kodo to Hongu Taisha, we were welcomed by the very cheerful and friendly host of the minshuku who immediately told us about the great public onsen near the river, presented us some (a lot!) mandarin oranges from the area and had our room ready in no time even though we didn't have to check in yet (and it was quite early, before the check-in time). All in all, fantastic place, great view on the river, very clean and nice: we felt directly at home.

Located in Tanabe in the Wakayama region, KUMANOYASAI BASE in Chikatsuyu features a balcony and mountain views. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

A simple cabin with everything provided. Shino is helpful, and knowledgeable on Kumano Kodo trekking. She provide us insightful information, and it did help alot. Her café is located nearby bus stop which is very convenient for us to catch the bus right after the breakfast. Not forget to mention about the meal provided, yummy and delicious. Shino also help us arrange for daily luggage transfer, and very responsive on any issues arising. Kudos to Shino.
