Beautiful, but long walk down and up if you are not 100% fit or a bit older. Tip - get a Tuk Tuk up from where the stairs stop. It’s a premium price but worth it. It’s muddy and slippery if it’s been raining, so don’t risk your ankles or knees.Guest review byNolaAustralia - 10.0

The rickshaws shouldn’t charge more than 500rs one way. They stop at a point beyond which it’s a steep descent on stairs and some narrow but safe enough pathways that lead to the bridge. Therefore the walk back is also a steep incline. There are monkeys who mind their business. Or you can choose to walk the entirety of it. It took us 1 hour to go and come back with ampke breaks and a slow pace. Fairly strenuous walk down to the bridge, which in it's self is a wonderful feat of British engineering and Sri Lankan effort!. However, our anticipation was dampened by the sheer volume of other tourists on the bridge (at least 1000) all waiting and jostling for the best spot to get a photo of the anticipated train. For me 100/100. Beautiful bridge, fabulous views all around, the road to the viaduct itself leads through a fabulously green forest. Some trains stop on the viaduct, so there is time for a photo session:-))) It is also nice to have a coffee (or Ceylon TEA!!!) in one of the cafes by the viaduct, watching the trains passing by and the wonderful views of the area.Guest review byRobert222United Kingdom - 10.0

Best to go for early morning train times as there are less people. We went in the afternoon and it was still wonderful. You can walk around 3kms (quite steep though in parts) or you can take a tuk tuk for around 3000 LKR (and they wait for you to return to Ella).Guest review byStrangybowAustralia
